Blacking out a room

By my post count, I can't hide the "newb" moniker. Hello, all. I have a question and did a search that turned up very little. I'm looking for a good, aesthetically pleasing way to omit light coming into my media room during the day. I have a completely separate room with a door so that part isn't an issue. The issue is simply the light coming in from a single window behind the seating area. I've looked online for various types of blackout curtains and their plentiful. But my concern is the light that will inevitably "bleed in" from the perimeter. Any thoughts?

Nothing is perfect and unless you brick in that window and seal off the doors you may get some residual bleed but, then again, you don't need coal-mine blackness to enjoy HT.

Paint the room in a dark color with non-reflective paint, some thick, room-darkening window shades, and some thick, oversize curtains should more than suffice.
