Biggest TV out there

The title says it all:

Quite a TV. Probably still worth to wait for another gen or two before making such investment.

Sorry for OP to continue to derail this thread about legitimately interesting larger TV models, but just in case there are few more objective and informative articles than @Tankini linked:

I posted the thread without any agenda except discussing purely technological advancement in the industry. The fact is that TCL and Hisense are quickly gaining the market share globally and that is due to the technological advancements they achieved in a short period of time. I have been enjoying TCL 98x955 set for more than 8 mos and hope there is nothing grossly wrong (i.e. unfixable) with it as the cost was not negligible.

As with telecom industry, relevant regulators should look into this industry as well and if needed intervene with their recommendations or requests that manufacturers change their practices. I live in EU (and Middle East) and while not concerned and have nothing to hide about my viewing habits, I am concerned with privacy and security of my home networks. If there is anything irregular going on with TCL or Hisense TVs, EU and US regulators should step up and protect the consumers.

BTW there are no frequent software updates for x955 series - in 8 mos of ownership I only got 1 and that was after 6 mos. That is a separate issue as updates are too infrequent and there are still issues to be ironed out.

The rumors are that this will come in at $20,000 initially. That's a hefty price tag for a TCL television no matter what.

I am seeing the 98" model right now in an installation, and it's definitely a good looking TV and the price point of under $3,000 is remarkable for such a large display. Hopefully, this model can come down to under $5,000, or even $4,000 in the next year or two which will make it far more competitive with the ultra-short throw setups which so many people have been using for a big screen in their family room setups. Other than a retractable screen, the TCL basically blows away any projection setup that's out there. Much better in any family room setup. But, pricing has to be affordable. Or at least close.

This is one of the most exciting products in years as we have had 98" displays for years now. This size jump is a massive change in what I've seen in many years.

Agreed - 115" was occasionally available for $15k (i.e. it is out there for sale), but still too much for this type of TV. It is really big and difficult to dispose/sell/move. In that size and price range probably better to wait for endgame TV that will come in a year to two after this tech is fully ironed out and processing improved further.

98" is the sweet spot right now people looking for really big TVs. Either in the X955 or a bit cheaper C955 version. I have 83" Sony as well and 98" is massively bigger and still significantly bigger than my 9 year old 88" Samsung LED.

So where do people put these huge 100 " plus TV 's.

I don't have the real estate to put anything over 100inches nor the setting distance to view it. It would be 'cool", but for a lot of normal folks, its just not logical, not to mention the cost.. And you have to get into your home and around corners LOL.

Your problem isn't everyone's problem. Tons of people have larger homes and no problem with getting a TV in and a nice big wall to hang it on. Many have basements with a dedicated entrance to it that the TV can go right through. These TVs are in the size range of a 4x8 sheet of drywall and it just works. I'm not saying that it is for everyone, but it's an awesome option for those who it works for and who can afford it for sure.

65" OLED here 7-8 ft away. Behind the setting location is a kitchen island and a walkway out to the lanai . Plenty big for these old eyes

For the longest time I had 55" it's been since 2020 I jumped up to 65". better peripheral vision for me with a 65" at 5ft to 8ft. I get why some go as big as they can. I almost went with a 75" but I would have had to do away with my audio rack, it has wheels and put all my audio gear on my two shelves of my TV Entertainment stand which I could still do and just add another 12" sub in its place. Cost was 600 more + tax. Wanted to stay away from paying 1500 + for a new TV. 1204.00 is the most I've ever paid in my life time for a new TV. I've always went with Bargain tv's, I understand now why you pay more for a top 3 brand TV, it's worth the extra money.

I think 65 inches is just about right. That's my next TV.
It is good size for small to mid-size rooms. Plus even if you want a premium model say , Samsung, LG, Sony won't break your bank. Would I have liked a Sony X95L, sure but at 3k for a 65" no thanks. LG doesn't really make a good LED, QDLED. Now LG 65" Nano mini LED is a good one, their flagship LED will cost you north of 2k. Samsung, Sony LED, QDLED are the way to go.

But still anywhere between 1700 to 3K. Now there's the budget friendly TCL, Hisense and other's that have great specs on paper. Can get a good value for around 800 or so. But they're upscaling and smoothness is usually crap, Contrast isn't as good as you top tier T V's. I have a friend who's a TV repairman told me to stay away from cheaper brands they use the cheapest parts in them, processing power, much less ram, buggy. But as you know a Budget brand is what it is as, long as going in one should research and compare.

Sony, Samsung, LG has around a 11 to 13% of issues as opposed to the budget brands of 23+ % of issues. I have read reviews, even the Top 3 brands are not without issues though. My new Sony XR65X90L I picked up on July 3rd had two dead pixels had to return it for exchange on July 9th. Didn't notice it the first 7 days. Was by luck really, I didn't remove some clear tape on the bottom bezel. After removing the tape I just so happened to be really close to the screen about 1ft away, that's when I noticed the dead pixels.

Tried a factory reset also a pixel refresh still no go. Talk about lucky, BestBuy only has a 14 day return window, Unless your a BestBuy member then you get thirty days, you have to pay for that privilege. If one wants a OLED LG 65" C3 is the best bang for your money. Anywhere from sale price of 1599 to 1699. I did have that one on my short list.

I want a 77in LG next year. It doesn’t seem that my 55 in plasma will ever die so might have to push it over and blame the dog. LOL :)

When I went into my local BestBuy, I did a look see at most of the mid-level and flagship TVs. It'd be an understatement if I said I wasn't wowed. Samsung, LG, Sony OLED TV are that good. Prices are like  also.
