Very nice...I didn't know it, but Revel is owned by Harmon International ;) Cool!
Harman International owns Revel, Mark Levinson, & Lexicon!

If I had the money, I would definitely get Mark Levinson + Revel!!!:D

Denon says that they target their separates after Lexicon.

Seriously, I have no life.
I would do this:

Revel Ultima Salon2 x 5 = $45,000. Retail is $11K ea, but your dealer should give you 20% off. Specs: 29 Hz - 18 kHz +/- 0.5dB, 26 Hz - 20 kHz +/- 1.0dB. Tom Nousiane measured a SPL of 106 dB @ 35 Hz from 2 meters away in his 7,500 sq. ft. room. So you don't even need a subwoofer.

.
Everyone needs a sub, what do you mean he doesn't:D

Excellent recommendations so far - I have nothing really to add except that I am extremely JEALOUS! :D:D Sounds like you have a heckuva wife - does she have a single sister? ;)
Or, we can just mess him up and she'll divorce him for you:D:D

.. I already have a $4500 projector with a 108in screen. ....
How good is that projector? Will it do 1080p/24?
Have a BluRay in the budget?
May want a larger screen with the sound system you are putting together.
How may seats or rows will you have? Leave room for room treatment as well. And, perhaps, an active room EQ.
Don't forget comfortable seating:D

Yet another recommendation, or two

don't have to use it all.

Yes but she's 6'9", weights 312lbs and she has a big tumor under one eye. She is also bald by the cancer treatments.

Will you take that 100K$ system? :p

I think the first reply, talking to Rives Audio is a pretty good idea.

The thing about a project like this is, you get such diminished returns as you go up the price scale. For the difference in performance between a $50K system and a $100K system, I think I'd go with the $50K system & something else really fun - take a bunch of friends to Paris for the weekend.... visit Antarctica..... save more money & go into outer space.

If you can't think of anything fun to do, meet me here in Honolulu - I'll take you sailing & give you some ideas.

i just need to look at the other ingredients, speakers, subs, pre/pro or reciever or both, etc.
Before I purchase one speaker, amp, or pre/pro. I would take some of that cash, and invest it in the room. Acoustic treatments for old room, or build a dedicated HT room from scratch.

Haaspac, like you I tend toward the frugal side though that does help with the occasional extravagance. My next HT is also planned with an <$100K budget in mind. What’s amazing is how quickly things add up. I’d also like to keep the gear under $40k-$50K and spend the rest on the room. You mentioned the HT aspect but didn’t say whether critical music listening would also be involved, not that that matters much? My plan tends to be more HT centric.

Some ideas that I’ve considered:
• The Denon AVP-A1HDCI tends to be at the top of the list for processing but may consider options based on what’s available at time of purchase. Currently pre/pros from Integra/Onkyo and Marantz may be viable options.
• Power gear will be based on speaker requirements.
• Only a substantial sub system will do!!! In my case, a dual manifold, 8/18” Infinite baffle setup.:p But if I were to go wth in-room subs it would be a quad setup of SVS Ultras, HSU ULS-15s, Epik Tower/Conquests, or DIY option.:D:cool:
• Speaker – OMG the possibilities.
• Front soundstage behind acoustically transparent screen/false wall.
• Screen is acoustically transparent 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
• A dual projection system would be set up for “true” CIH viewing. Undecided about a masking system.

Whatever you choose, first consider:

Getting your room acoustics right

figuring out proper speaker placement

perhaps hire a professional calibrator

invest in at least 2 subs, preferably 4 if you can fit them. Make your room nice, don't stick one refridgerator sized sub in your room. 2 subs are ALWAYS better than 1 assuming your using good subs. A great hometheater doesn't draw attention to itself via bulky equipment. Going with 4 subs you don't need HUGE ones. The JL Audio's are a great choice, so are 4 Velodyne DD15s.

Don't go with 5 full range towers, what a waste, it doesnt work for home theater and you will most likely not have good bass in most if not all of the seats.

Invest in some killer theater chairs, I highly recommend Continental Seating. They offer chairs that don't degrade audio performance since their backs are properly angled to not block your ears.

get the biggest screen you can comfortably fit in your room and a high quality projector 1080p LCD or DLP projector

invest in power management from APC to protect your system

Don't buy into uber expensive separates. The Denon AVP is by far the most advanced pre/pro on the market, regardless of price but its still expensive. The Anthem D2 is also very nice but lacks some of the features of the Denon. If you want to save some serious cash, consider the AVR-5308 and mate it with a few amps from Emotiva so you can redirect your budget towards your room.

If you really have your heart on spending $100k, I'd put nearly half of it into making a cool room. Check out this room!

the wife told me to take her credit card and "go big or go home"
Damn, I wish I had a wife that wouldn't bite my head off every time I bring home a few hundred dollars worth of stuff, let alone one that would actually suggest that I bring home several 10's of thousand's of dollars.

You got yourself a keeper right there!! You lucky bastard.

Wife said seating didnt come into cost of the theater, so she said i could get whatever seating I wanted. Also even with revel system (or RBH) top of the line denon pre/pro and 2 JL fathoms, i still come out around 50k ish which is still well below the 100k mark. how much would a professional calibrator cost to set up a system such as this? Ill have to look if there is one in Fort Wayne IN or nearby.

my BD player is my ps3
projector is http://www.crutchfield.com/S-fLu97lCreRv/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=158VPLW60&tp=164&tab=detailed_info
screen is 108in i believe.

Another thing, since I am new to high end equipment, and maybe buying top of the line denon's, honestly how could i enjoy something with so many features and options? Shouldn't I work my way up so I can appreciate all the denons can do? It would feel like just pushing play and leaving it alone is kind of an injustice to such expensive equipment. Unless of course its designed to work in a "push play and leave it alone" manner.

Not sure if you posted your room dimension.

You may want to browse through these posts:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=926359

That is about your intended projector.

May want to consider this?

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=947922

While there are way too many posts there to read all of them, you might get a feel for that projector and capability? Also, you should be able to get it for much less than list$$.

I have the older 100 model;) You may want to increase the screen size if room width permits since you may be doing a bigger audio and the picture may get lost?;)

Either projector would also need a pro calibration by an ISF certified person. Some do have reputations and travel around the country:D

That's the theme in life: the best requires the least effort.:D

Think no more. Get out that credit card and buy the Denon AVP + POA. But tell your dealer you won't buy unless they give you a 20% discount. Just because you have money doesn't mean you can't get a good price.:D

not really sure, but in this price range cant you just get like a professional installer/company to come in and transform an unfinished basement into a dedicated home theater? this includes like room construction/treatments/components/calibration (start to finish). With home theaters becoming so popular i feel like this should be an option.

Unless you wanna do it yourself which i understand, i just thought for that price range it could be easier. I may be completely off on how much something like that would actually cost.

i looked at the rives website as stated in an earlier post, but kinda got from them that they did not do everything.

While $14,500 worth of Denon is Excellent, the McIntosh is even more Excellent!

McIntosh MX136 Audio and Video Preamplifier/Processor
McIntosh MC2KW 2,000 Watt Reference Power Amplifier

That is what my $100K system would have! :)

The MC2KW monoblock amp is $30,000 each, so 5 amps = $150,000!

The MX136 is $10,000.

Total price = $160,000!!!
