Nice music. I like coming home to some Armik, or Earl Klugh, or Roy Buchanan, or even Rod And Gab (language warning) style music. In other words I'm all over the place. :D

You got some dedication going my friend. Glad you were able to jump right back in and go all out!
We had a nice ride yesterday.

Home of Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Oak Cliff Nature Preserve trail, another jewel in the urban landscape of Dallas. The trail offers a good singletrack loop through the hills of Oak Cliff with the full loop running @ 7.75 miles long.

Carolyn had a stomach virus last week and wasn't at 100% so we just made 1 lap but it was great. This is the most difficult trail she has been on to date.

Get a cycle computer that tracks cadence. Best way to make performance goals and track your physical output.

Not sure what is best for trails, but on the road, 90rpm for all speeds, up, flat and downhill is about the optimal speed for efficient pedaling.
Theoretically it should all be the same.
The higher your cadence, the less glycogen your muscles are using. You can go much farther with less strain and fatigue.
See where you're actually at, and aim your goals at getting faster.

This thing tracks HR with high and low alerts zone 1-4, cadence with high and low alerts, time and distance, pace/speed, calories, workouts, history and navagation and you can download everything to a CPU so I should be covered.

If you hook that up to a URC MX-350 you should be able to launch the space shuttle from your couch. :D

I really don't track my workouts like that, tried it with the ipod/nike+ thing for awhile but always forgot to upload a workout here and there.

Ok, I ordered the URC MX. Now what do I do?:D
Do what you like doing best. Wait for the big brown truck. I just know if it weren't for Carolyn you would have a mail order bride on the way. I'm gonna round up some guys to do a delivery intervention for you. You're going to have to go to a facility that nothing gets shipped to ... ever. This will be a b!tch at first but it will get easier as time goes on. :)

You did? I think the RFS200 is the better value. The 350 can do something or other that the RF20 cannot, but I don't think it's worth +2x the cost. For instance, it might be able to control two different systems independently? (You know, even if there are identical components in both systems.) MDS will know.

If I was to spend more, I'd look higher up into URC for something that can be programmed via computer, but then again, I don't really need/care for that.

If you don't have RF now, I think you will quite like it. You need a base station. You will have to run emitters to the IR receivers on the components. Running underneath them looks best. Your batteries will get eaten more quickly.

Getting waaay too hardcore! :D All science! Be athletes not mathletes you nerds!!!

I ride every major 100 mile cycle of the season, staying pretty competitive, and do at least one "tour" ride (multi-day mountain excursions of over 300 miles). All I ever need while I train is cadence, distance and total time. The speed is nice to look at for bragging rights and to make sure I'm keeping on the mark, but not necessary.

What will you do with all of this data once you compile it?

Dude, I am an Audioholic, I need cool stuff on everything I do.

MPH on a mountain bike is about 5...

Distance is cool but lets face it, you ride the trail until it ends and then you hope you can make it back to your car.

Total time once again is if you can make it back to your car.

At my age, HR is what I focus on. Try to keep in a solid training zone without blowing the old thing up.

The data is cool to track progress and overlay the route into google earth to see your ride.

I did the most technical ride I have ever done yesterday. It took over 2 hours to go 6 miles and my HR never went below 122.

Elapsed Time: 02:30:22
Avg Speed: 5.2 mph
Avg Moving Speed: 6.4 mph
Max Speed: 14.6 mph
Avg Pace: 11:31 min/mi
Avg Moving Pace: 09:21 min/mi
Best Pace: 04:06 min/mi

SpeedPaceElevation
Elevation Gain: 561 ft
Elevation Loss: 541 ft

Heart RateAvg HR: 144 bpm
Max HR: 169 bpm

Here is the first part of the ride. I was jacking with the Garmin and restarted the timer on accident.
