Like several other's who have tried this I have a slight hum coming from the speakers that is not audible from more than two feet away.
Ok, i have a Yamaha RXV-1400, a Harman Kardon AVR70 and a pair of NS-300 Yamaha speakers. A friend of mine owed me like 150 bucks and i took his HK AVR70 as a payment; i tried bi-amping the fronts and i was surprised by the little hum coming from the speakers, it was solved disconecting the MONITOR OUT of the Yamaha to the TV.

About bi-amping, Not much difference, but exists mainly in the lower notes. I think i will keep it this way because it looks cool and sounds a little bit better.

I have to say that my speakers DO NOT HAVE active crossovers, i think that's why i can't hear a big improvement.

hummmmmmmmmmm

Hi guys

I've just bi-amped my Denon 3805 to may Dali450 speakers (following the steps explained in review by audioholics). The results are mixed.

POSITIVE:
I can feel real improvement in dynamics at the both end (high and low), especially since this combination Denon/Dali can sound little bit too warm, almost flat (but very very detailed).

NEGATIVE:
Hum is just unbearable and I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Toquemon story is a bit interesting since I'm using 3805 for some of my video switching. Wile I'm using pure direct I can think of some rf influence by all those cables and inputs.
I have tried to swich between low and high wireing and it made no difference. The hum was basically the same.

My question 1) is if anyone had strong hum noise that he/she managed to get rid off. If so how?
I'm sure that there should be a way to get rid of it since I see nothing wrong with the signal path. Hum is generally annoying as any noise. I would suspect that the level of hum rises with the output level and thus following high tone amplitude covering the fine details :(

Question 2) In your experience how much of recalibrating of surround is needed to be done once bi amping is used?

I followed all of the instructions on this web site to Bi-Amp the 3805 and after going over it several times it still does not work properly. All I get is a faint sound coming from the speakers. RCA cables are connected from front pre-outs to the cd input. Zone2 is set to cd. Amp Assign is set to "Zone2". Zone2 volume is set to 2db. Jumper cables were removed and bass section was connected to the multizone speaker connections. The highs were connected to the front speaker connections. Is there anything missing here? I printed out the instructions and followed them correctly and only a little bit of the high's come out of the speakers. Please help...
I have the same problem. I've gone through the instructions several times (I hook up to the VDP terminals) and all I get are very faint high frequencies. If I turn up the main volume I get a VERY loud hum - driver-damaging loud. I must not be holding my mouth right, since so many others have managed to achieve this bi-amplification. Any clues on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Alan

Denon doesn't encourage this because of a ground loop effect. There is no way to eliminate it by hooking rca's from the back of the unit to the back of the unit. There is plenty of power in the 3805 not to bi-amp, and if you run a subwoofer, you should be fine in the lower frequencies. You can always get a second hand dedicated amplifier to power your bi-amplifiable speakers through the pre out the correct way. It's really not necessary - there are a lot of logs on this site to that effect.
