Hi all,

I'm curious to know what everyone's opinion of the best subwoofer for the money is. It can be any price, as long as it's relative sound is worth more according to how it compares to others in the market. I'm looking into subs and am just curious to know what the market is like and what kind of sub I might try to get when I eventually have the money. Thanks!

Best value is DIY. Occasionally there are steals to be found used on Craigslist. Otherwise, there are plenty of bargains on new subs in any price range. If you're in Europe, check out B.K. Electronics. In the US, Dayton or NXG NX-BAS-500 in the < $300 range for a small-to-mid-sized room. Hsu, Rythmik, Outlaw, or RBH / EMP Tek for 5 - 700 range. Hsu, Reaction, or Power Sound above that... It really depends on your room size, space limitations, need for WAF, and what you can afford. Pick your budget and your compromises, and don't short change a large room with an inadequate sub regardless of bargain.

The 8" Dayton which came with knock downs in a kit from Parts Express is hard to beat at any price point.

Paired with the class D Yung SD300 which I picked up on sale for $99 the combo makes for some amazingly articulate bass. Added a second one for DB.

By mounting the plate amp outboard you don't harm the structural integrity of the box.
