Best speakers/brand for music listening only?

The best I can recall hearing at a store were large Maggies (heard them with classical which I am told they have a special niceness for) and B&W 802S's. The B&W CM9 really caught my attention, but need a sub (two?).

Actually, when I was auditioning the B&W's we store was closing soon..so I did kind of run out of time. The thing was that the 684's were already over the budget I had told him..but I have in mind he said the PSB's were considerably more than those yet. I think next time I go out tho I'd like to hear more speakers out of my price range just for more of a taste of what GOOD stuff really does sound like :)

Funny thing..as I shop around it makes me want to increase my budget a bit ...

Oh dear
Of course the B&W dealer is going to say that. He doesn't want you to buy PSBs...Look for yourself and see how much they are. I bet you'll be surprised that they may be even cheaper than the B&Ws. ;)

Well long lost comrades... I've made my decision! Last night I just picked up a used Outlaw 2150 for $450 CAD, in like new condition. Speaker-wise I'm gunna pull the trigger on the Axiom M-80's.

I can't comment much on the Outlaw yet, as I just hooked it up to some old speakers last night, but they did sound better than I've ever heard them. Also, a common complaint is with the remote/volume control. It is finicky, but useless, no. With some of my recently acquired knowledge from all you forum people, I'm pumped to soon be enjoying some quality listening. Thanks guys!
