Demo the Boston Acoustics VR2 towers and Polk RM7400T towers. Let us know what you think.

If I’m not mistaken, Circuit City carries Infinity too.

If you really want Axioms then forget about CC & wait till you can get what you want, just my 2 cents but buying something from a store just because you dont have to pay the bill for 18 months is not a wise investment,if its not a peice of equipment that you truly want chances are that when the 18 months are up you'll be sick of the gear, want to upgrade again & will be just getting started paying the bill.

If you think of audio as a long term investment you can save yourself from wasting a ton of cash.

I believe Infinity was replaced by Boston. Since Denon also replaced H-K Circuit City must have terminated the relationship with Harmon, Intl.

You might be able to get by with some electronics there but if you "settle" for speakers that don't really ring your chimes, you might/will wind up paying for them twice when yopu realize they don't make it.

AV123 is offering financing with no interest if paid within the time limit.

A good way to get into it for sure.

I had infinitys for years and liked them but I have found another level...

Maybe just waiting and saving is the best option?

Im sure he can "get by" with a set of BA Vr2s...

Just because a certain brand is carried by CC does not mean its not good. Just go and try to demo some stuff and see if you like it..But i mean if you cant afford it the best thing to do is wait..makes no sense to rush and buy something..especially when your spending a good amount of money on it

For that matter, I'm pretty sure he can "get by" with any speaker he finds there. The trick is finding one that suits one's personal tastes.

From your post, I'm assuming you find the BA's suit your tastes. That's all well and good, and I'm sure they are fine speakers, but you seem to imply they will fit his. That's not an assumption I'm comfortable making. Actually, I don't assume any speakers I like will satisfy anyone else. I can merely suggest one give them a listen.

One should listen and decide but, if one's mind is already made up on a certain speaker, then anything else may well be "settling", which can be costly in the long run. I think I pretty much said this up front.

Im saying he can "get by" on them because they ARE good speakers and have many reviews proving so. I know that everyone has different ears and SQ is subjective but when a lot of people like a certain product more than likely others will too. Alot of people on this board dislike products based on who carries them.

Im sure if Axiom was carried by CC alot of people would not look at them the way they do now.

And, nobody said they weren't.

I know that everyone has different ears and SQ is subjective but when a lot of people like a certain product more than likely others will too.
And, your point is?

Alot of people on this board dislike products based on who carries them.
You do hold the general population of this board in low regard, don't you? A lot of the effort here is spent overcoming that stigma and accepting products for what they are, not where they are sold. Infinity was well regarded and they were sold by CC, weren't they? Polk and BA are sold by them and I don't see anyone (including me) dissing them, do you? Best Buy sold Athena and people here spoke highly of them, didn't they?

Look, I wanted maggies because I fell in love with their signature sound and if I "settled" for any else to save a few bucks, I would have quickly realized my mistake.

Im sure if Axiom was carried by CC alot of people would not look at them the way they do now.
Not if they frequented this board and were apprised of the truth. Only those ignorant of the facts espoused here would hold to that myopic view. And, keep in mind we're talking in context of this board, not the wide world populated by Joe Sixpack and wannabees with pretentions of knowing this stuff.

Boston Acoustics are not something to "settle" for. They are very good speakers, and would be a good choice even if buying at CC was not one of the parameters.

Yeah, yeah, whatever...

I'm sure he'll be pleased as punch with either of those speakers and they will be exactly what he's been searching for his whole life and his search for the ultimate sound will be terminated instantly. I'm even considering trading in my maggie 1.6's for them. Happy now?

Boston's are not the speakers I currently have, but they were certainly one of the options that I considered. I used to have a pair of A60s and loved them.

If they are the ones I'm thinking of, then we're talking the little brothers to the A100's, which places us in the 70's or early 80's. Both of which were excellent speakers. I love vintage.
