Up is ordered. Thanks guys.

The Genesis releases are audibly compressed? I'm not real familiar with older Genesis albums(In Depth) but that's not promising to say the least.

Thanks for the heads-up on "Jazz at the Pawnshop" and "Up." I've been looking for new sonic thrills to feed my habit. This IS an addictive hobby...we have to contend with gear upgrade-itis and restless ear syndrome (aka musical infidelity). No matter how great a band, artist or piece of music is, after awhile, you want to hear something different, and it never ends. I'm not complaining...this is a GOOD thing. As long as your money holds out.

Jazz At the Pawnshop is as good as described here.
Another to look for is "Fragile, Yes".

I heard these on Redbook over the weekend but both are available on SACD. The DBQ is absolutely stunning.

Domnerus - Antiphone Blues
Dave Brubeck Quartet - Concord on a Summer Night

I've searched (for about two years), but does anyone know of any Chris Rea or Robert Cray (other than Time Will Tell: dvd A) on sacd? I love jammin to both, and know a good sacd would really move me.

Sorry it didn't help. I usually find out whether a SACD exists from that site :D

Another one that I didn't see mentioned was Godsmack's Other Side SACD. This one is essentially unplugged or stripped down versions of some of their favorites. It is very well done and I enjoy it quite a bit. It was one of the first SACDs I bought, along side DSotM.

I was blown away just yesterday by Peter Gabriel's SACD Plays Live. It's just stereo, but it's pretty amazing. Comparing it to the regular CD was night and day. The SACD is powerful, with solid bass and a great live sound. It felt three-dimensional; it felt like the best DTS concert DVDs I've heard. Peter's vocals are sometimes buried a bit, but that actually happens in live settings, so it wasn't too bad.

Overall rating: Wow. Especially considering it's just stereo.

cheers,

I'm amazed no one has mentioned this one yet but Al Dimeola, Paco De Lucia, and John McLaughlin's "Friday Night In San Francisco" is not to be missed. Excelled SQ and three amazing guitarists playing together, truly incredible!

My favourite sacd

I recently bought Sara K. - hell or high water from stockfisch records.

Man this is just the most amazing sacd I have come across. It makes all my other CD's (and some sacd's) sound like rubbish. I was not really a fan of the genre but this sounds so amazing that I just have to love it. If you like acoustic guitars you don't ant to miss this one in your collection.

????? Yuck

You need to check out Michael McDonald's Motown II on SACD, and the 1st Motown on DVD-A... both are beautifully recorded discs. His motown hits version sound a lot better than some of the originals actually! :)
Michael MacDonald and Motown two words that dont go together

Listening to Beck's Sea Change on SACD in 5.1 is probably one of the most incredible home music listening experiences I've ever had in my life.

1) Pentatone's release of Beethoven's Symphonies is fantastic.

2) Dredg (band) El Cielo (album) newer band mellow, really clear recording.

3) Beck (band) Sea Changes (album) what can I say.

Incredible compared to original CD: Herbie Hancock "HEADHUNTERS". Blows me away every time.
