Best "high end" AVP

Further detail:
Nick of Anthem and the manual both state that the AVM 60 does not downsample to perform room correction.

Here is a quote from Nick of Anthem in the AVM 60 thread: “No downsampling either with ARC, bass management, and AnthemLogic running in any combination, including all at once. For any additional concerns please contact tech support, thanks.”

The manual also says on page 35 that it doesn’t downsample for ARC.

But I’ve read elsewhere that if you add other surround sound modes on top, such as Dolby Surround or DTS Neural X, it downsamples to 48/24.
Are we talking about the same Nick here:

: If using ARC, am I correct in understanding that if I theoretically feed it a 192kHz source, then the MRX units will downsample to 48kHz and the pre-pros will down sample to 96kHz? In other words, none of the models will be able to apply ARC at the native 192kHz?

Nick Platsis: This is correct, and for the longest time AVM/D was the only unit on the market that could operate room eq at higher than 48 kHz.

Audioholics
: If I'm using the built-in ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) on the receivers and pre-pros via one of the analog inputs (let's say I'm playing an LP) and I choose to apply ARC will the units likewise down sample the incoming analog signal to 48kHz for the receivers and 96kHz for the pre-pros? Let's assume that there is no recording going on and I don't need to match a destination format.

Nick Platsis: A/D conversion in MRX is to 48 kHz. In AVM/D, it is according to the ADC setup menu. The selections range from 44.1 to 96 kHz and as a side note 176.4 and 192 weren't included because all they do is capture more noise. There's no extra audio signal to be had up there from an analog input.

The thing about "down sampling" can be tricky. If most do it with 48 kHz, then for those who do 96 kHz they might conveniently tell you they don't down sample when actually they do, if you feed it with 24/176, 24/192 or higher such as many flac, wave, dsd files available on line.

To me it is a moot point because it is proven that if processing power is limited, it would be best for the manufacturer to go with 48 kHz instead of sacrificing something else more important. It is however, seemingly impossible to get many Audiophiles or even just Audioholics such as me, to willingly accept down sampling to 48 kHz. That's the same idea as trying to get me to accept Yamaha's THD+N anomalies Gene found on the CX-A52 and now the RX-A6A. I know it would not make any audible difference to me, but I won't go for either one, not until the A53 get tested and got verified that issues have been addressed successfully

Not sure if same Nick, both my quotes were pulled from AVSforum discussing the AVM60 and 70. I didn't include the Audioholics quote as that was from 2014 when discussing those points and was ARC-1 not Arc Genesis or current models.

I know, just curious about "Nick" and what they said back in 2014 that basically 192 kHz won't do anything except add noise lol..

I have owned many Yamahas and Marantz units (and still do) and never really had an issue with any of them. The loan exception was Marantz's blu-ray player, it was junk.
Aside from ARC, in direct mode especially if analog inputs are used, did you get that "wow it sounds different.." or "better" than the 8802A? I am curious to know your subjective impression, since I don't find my Denon AVR sounding any different than my old AV8801 and there is a good chance I may end up with the Anthem, or Yamaha by end end, unless Marantz comes up with an AV7707 that measures as good as the SR8015.

In my subjective opinion, I felt I immediately noticed a difference, but we all know how measurable subjective is LOL. The best way to describe it was a video comparison I watched from this guy. I have no idea his credibility, but they way he described it was pretty much my opinion. More clarity and detail on the Anthem.
