How about the Denon x2200?

Download two apps to help get a rough idea of spl. Nothing to scientific here. Come up with 97-103 at listening position 12 ft from speakers.

Hope that helps
Is that a peak or average? Pretty dang loud if that's average. You can help yourself with an spl calculator....http://myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html is one (it may not be ideal but will get you in the neighborhood).

I like Denons, as I do like Audyssey (use a 4520 myself). If you want to give yourself more amplification options look for a unit with pre-outs so outboard amps could be used...

Just FYI.

Gave my friend the options for subs:

PB-1000-$499

outlaw X-12 -$705

HSU VTF-3 -$870

He choose the X-12. But after adding in shipping it is close to an outlet priced PB-2000/PC-2000.

Not sure how much better those subs are then the X-12

Speakers have been purchased

Now to the last part of the puzzle. Receiver

Here are the choices that I think would work best
Onkyo tx-nr555
Pioneer vsx-90
Denon x2200w
Denon S910W
Denon x1200w

Any one of these stand out?
