Why not? I put a $20 pair of Insignia 3 way indoor/outdoor speakers in my bathroom so I have shower music. They actually sound Ok for what they are, and for the cost I'm pretty happy. A few others have used their larger speakers and reported that for the $60 price they were pretty happy with them.

My brother has owned an insignia TV and DVD player. Both devices took a crap at different, unrelated times. Luckily he purchased an extended warranty on his TV so Best Buy gave him in-store credit but not enough to buy a non-Insignia TV.

I think the motto "You get what you pay for" applies here very well.

My two cents.

I wouldn't buy an Insignia video product, as most of them are low end Funai crapola.;) The current Insignia receivers are Sherwood products rebadged. The all weather speakers mentioned are made by the same company that made the all weather speakers for Dual and KLH. The 80 some dollar bookshelf speakers with the coaxial 2 way are made under the same parameters as those Radiient speakers that had a very short run and seemed to disappear (gee, wonder what happened there:rolleyes:). Don't be surprised if you see the Insignia brand role out nearly a full range of audio products in the near future.

The Insignia Blu-ray player shown is the same as the Magnavox being offered at Wal-Mart for $298 as well as a Philips and Sylvania player. An upcoming Denon Blu-ray player will use the same platform for it's entry level unit which will have a MSRP of $750. Why design your own Blu-ray player when you can buy crap for crap prices and mark it up for people that buy names?;)

Many of the Insignia DVD player/recorders are obviously LG made. They have identical rear panels, remotes, and menus.

I'd probably pay the extra money for a Blu-Ray player from a different manufacturer. Especially since the Insignia does not decode the high resolution audio formats.

Ah, true. I believe the lowest end DVD players Best Buy sells, the more squarish ones, are Funai made. At the same time, who knows, maybe Funai makes some LG DVD players.:D LG at least makes their own TVs for now, they are trying to get a contract worked up with AmTram (the owner/manufacturer of Vizio) to produce OEM for LG.

The Insignia Blu-ray player is definitely Funai made.

I've got the 15" Insignia lcd tv. I picked it up on sale for ~$150, IIRC, last year to use while on my treadmill. The guys at BB had told me not to buy the larger models because they had extremely high return rates and poor pq. They did say the 15" had little if any returns. So for the money I bought it. It's been working fine for the past 8 or so months. The pq is quite good too.

While I'm a fan of BD, I'm just beyond ready for the 2.0 profile players to hit the market. There's no question that what we really need to see, for BD to start being a bit more acceptable, is a decent players, from a few manufacturers, that includes the speed of the PS3, and the cost of this Insignia... preferably less.

Not really good news or bad news in my head, just news. Rebranding someone elses product just doesn't do it for me.
