Best $1000 (or cheaper) Musical Receiver (Pre/Amp)?

I just want accurate and detailed sound....;) (if only for reassurance purposes).
We can tell by the speakers you own, that you aim for accuracy. You got some nice speakers now, so just get some decent electronics but don't second guess things base on what those die hard Audiophiles are telling you. As ADTG said, speakers are the bottleneck. People turn to big amps not always because of real needs but could simply be the cool factor, I want one too, that kind of things. Like many others, I am guilty by owning quite a few amps but I am not going to tell you to go for it and you will hear better sound no matter what, that won't be truthful. Once you get pass the entry level, improved sound quality mostly come from the source media, speakers, and room acoustic conditions.

That does look like a really great deal. If it had XT32, I'd be all over it this very second.
I could be wrong, but there aren't any receivers that have XT32 under $1k and have SubEQ. The onkyo 818 has XT 32, but no subEQ. I think that would be just as important as XT32.
