Hi,

Is there any benefit to running the component video of my DVD player into my Receive (it has the inputs) even though my old TV only has a composite input?

Thanks,

Greg

Nope. You would have to be running the component monitor out on your receiver to the tv as well to gain anything.

It actually wouldn't even display anything on the tv. The receivers can upconvert, but they will not downconvert. i.e if you have something connected to component it will not output with svideo or composite.

Squid's right, I don't think it will even work either. Someone asked about a component to composite converter and I couldn't find one, and I've never seen a receiver that would do it either.
