Definitely not going anywhere! You guys have been a huge help. The ARC is the Anthem Room Correction - I'm sure you already know more about it than I do.
The MRX AVR will be here on Friday, so I was going to tinker with it this weekend.

Too bad I can't get speakers here in time. I work like a madman, and rarely have cycles for fun. 350 hours of vacation time accumulated and counting..... :-\

Oh! I was thinking ARC as in Audio Return Channel, and that you were keeping the Denon X1000. Never mind then.

When your Anthem arrives, I'm appointing you the resident Anthem Room Correction expert.

Expert would certainly be a stretch, but I'm at least interested in it enough to give it a real shot.

It's crazy how you can get so wrapped up in chasing threads and reading up on experiences with all these different speakers. I've been rummaging through forums for the last 24 hours, trying to determine a suitable path forward, and still a little unsure of the right direction. The HSU speakers seem to be almost universally loved, and I like the fact that they're basically from a family owned, more or less "small time" business (it's all relative, employed by a Fortune 50) - the sort of thing that I'd be inclined to support, particularly given the purported quality of sound and craftsmanship.

Also started reading up on the subs, and found myself bouncing all over the place - started at HSU, migrated over to SVS, then to Rythmik (I think that's how you spell it).

Having grown up in a family of musicians - mom was a classical pianist, dad drummer, etc, many of these sounds are burned into my memory, to the extent that a crappy speaker is just..... well, a crappy speaker....

At the end of the day, I imagine any one of these recommendations is going to be worlds better than the ~$125 "Newegg specials" that I'm working with now.

Decisions, decisions.......

Will definitely update once I've placed an order - heck, might even post what I'm considering in the final roundup to get some feedback first. For now I am still in research mode!

Also wondering if maybe I should consider biting the bullet and going for a really nice ($1k ballpark) sub up front, basically working my way through the speakers a section at a time. Figure if I approach it this way, when I'm done (and it would take me several months to do this) I'd have a setup that could potentially be with me for many years (and possibly more than one home) to come.

What do you guys have to say about Aperion? Just curious....

No personal experience but people that have them say good things. They also have a 'try em out' deal where they pay the shipping if you dont want to keep them. I doubt they get many returns :)
