it has nothing to do with HDMI.
I stand corrected, for some reason I just assumed it was HDMI connection, As these where a problem in the past

But as I would suggest it could be a bad connection with the XLR, be it the plug / cable or the XLR board.

As the OP suggests it would be a simple operation to disconnect all the XLR connections and just use the RCA one at a time.

He who knows everything has already replied. And as usual said nothing

As i remember there was a problem with HDMI boards on another brand some years ago., They did a total re-call
My Onkyo TX-NR818 got fixed under extended warranty. But not sure if that’s a total re-call, probably not ? It’s still running today.

If, and only if it is a bad connection, it would likely happened not just to one unit but a whole batch; and the cause could easily be due to soldering issues. In modern assembly lines as we all known, many such soldering are done by robots so if there is a bug somewhere in the hardware or control side, the same poor soldering joints would be found in batches produced before the issues got discovered and fixed. QS systems are typically good to help discovering such issues before the products got shipped, but also often failed to catch it in time.
