RBH Reference T2 & T3
The RBH T2 is the best sounding floorstanding speaker pair I've auditioned to date (B&W 803D, B&W 802D, B&W 800D, Dali Euphonia MS5, Krell Resolution 1, MartinLogan Vantage, Paradigm Studio 100).
I spent an hour listening to the RBH Reference T system today using the same CDs I've been using.
The room was a little smaller than my own; it was about 12'W x 13'L x 8'H. It was a regular room you find in most homes; there were no room treatments. The speakers were powered by a Denon AVR-4806.
We started out with the T3/P system (basically one T1 + two 1010 subwoofers + 4 SA400 amps).
After 10 minutes the owner got up and allowed me to listen on my own. He came back after 5 minutes and asked me if I had noticed any difference. I told him I had not noticed any difference, and I asked him "Why?"
He said that while I was listening, he unpluged the two extra 1010 subwoofers (by turning off the amps) and turned the sytem into a T2/P: one T1 + one 1010 sub.
So basically, I could not tell the difference between a T2 & a T3 system.
So anyway, how did the T2/T3 system sound?
Wonderful!
The imaging and soundstage was large. The midrange was clear, the tweeter was smooth, and most impressively the bass was truly powerful and tight.
So how do the T2/T3 compare to the DefTech BP7000SC?
I thought the midrange & treble on the RBH is slightly more "forward" or "in-your-face", while the BP7000 is slightly "warmer" sounding.
I thought the bass on the RBH is a little tighter and more powerful than the BP7000SC.
The RBH is more "dynamic" and seems to play without limits. I think they could fill extremely large rooms better than the BP7000. The RBH sounded like you could place them outdoors and still get powerful dynamic sound without trouble.
Thus, I would have to give the overall edge to the RBH T2/P system. They are the best sounding speakers I have heard to date.
Next on my to-audition list will be the Revel Salon2 and Linkwitz Orion.
