Though I'd have to make an opinion on the ebony first. :)
I just find it a little tad bit hard to justify spending $200 on 2 dark painted stripe lines on the speakers.:D

Is it "more" beauty than what I think it is (2 dark stripe lines)?:D

I think the shipping will be a large sum too - like $300. I could be wrong, but I think it's close.

No need to stir the pot, if the looks of the B&W and audiophile street cred, meets someone's sonic requirements, so be it.

Since you already have the BP's to listen to, why not take your sweet time and audition as many as possible?

cheers,

AJ
True.

Sometimes I forget that not everyone hears what I hear and think what I think.:D

Some people do hear great sound from those B&W speakers. I think they are great looking speakers too.

And I need to take my sweet time auditioning as many speakers as I can.

RBH Reference T2 & T3

The RBH T2 is the best sounding floorstanding speaker pair I've auditioned to date (B&W 803D, B&W 802D, B&W 800D, Dali Euphonia MS5, Krell Resolution 1, MartinLogan Vantage, Paradigm Studio 100).

I spent an hour listening to the RBH Reference T system today using the same CDs I've been using.

The room was a little smaller than my own; it was about 12'W x 13'L x 8'H. It was a regular room you find in most homes; there were no room treatments. The speakers were powered by a Denon AVR-4806.

We started out with the T3/P system (basically one T1 + two 1010 subwoofers + 4 SA400 amps).

After 10 minutes the owner got up and allowed me to listen on my own. He came back after 5 minutes and asked me if I had noticed any difference. I told him I had not noticed any difference, and I asked him "Why?"

He said that while I was listening, he unpluged the two extra 1010 subwoofers (by turning off the amps) and turned the sytem into a T2/P: one T1 + one 1010 sub.

So basically, I could not tell the difference between a T2 & a T3 system.

So anyway, how did the T2/T3 system sound?

Wonderful!

The imaging and soundstage was large. The midrange was clear, the tweeter was smooth, and most impressively the bass was truly powerful and tight.

So how do the T2/T3 compare to the DefTech BP7000SC?

I thought the midrange & treble on the RBH is slightly more "forward" or "in-your-face", while the BP7000 is slightly "warmer" sounding.

I thought the bass on the RBH is a little tighter and more powerful than the BP7000SC.

The RBH is more "dynamic" and seems to play without limits. I think they could fill extremely large rooms better than the BP7000. The RBH sounded like you could place them outdoors and still get powerful dynamic sound without trouble.

Thus, I would have to give the overall edge to the RBH T2/P system. They are the best sounding speakers I have heard to date.

Next on my to-audition list will be the Revel Salon2 and Linkwitz Orion.:D

Cool. What was the music selection?
Eagle Hell Freezes Over CD: Hotel California, Love Will Keep Us Alive

Smallville Tallon Mix: Island in the Sun, Superman, Don't Dream It's Over, Time After Time, Save Me, Wave Goodbye

I did not bring any classical music this time around.:D

Yikes.:)
I wouldn't know how to judge a loudspeaker with rock music like that.
What reference is it supposed to sound like?
JBL or Peavey, etc. concert stacks?? QSC? Meyersound?

Did it come close? ;)

It's supposed to sound just like it did to the engineer on the studio monitors it was mixed on just like classical music.:)

With this audition, I was not too concerned about how "accurate" the speakers sounded compared to real live instruments.

I simply wanted to know how good they sound to my ears.

Was the midrange clear? Was the treble smooth? Was the bass tight and powerful? Were the vocals centered. Did the music sound great when sitting on the sides of the room, instead of center?

Personally, that's more important to me. Sometimes I actually prefer music that sounds "better" than live.:D:D

These are the same exact recordings I listen to on a daily basis on my BP7000SC. I love the way the music sounds with the BP7000SC.

They also contain acoustic guitars + solo vocals.:D

The acoustic guitars sounded exactly like real acoustic guitars and the drums sounded exactly like real drums.:D

Basically, the main area where the T2 shined compared to my BP7000SC was the tighter and more powerful bass.

I actually prefer the midrange and treble on my BP7000SC sice I think they are slightly "warmer" in sound.

But now I wonder how my BP7000s sound if I were to listen to them in 2.1 (2 BP7000SC + 1 Trinity Sub). :D

Just get another pair of BP7000SCs and be done with it, it seems as though everything you listen to you compare to those, and you say what they lack compared to them. Sounds to me like you will only be happy with another pair of BP7000SCs. Or since you have a Trinity sub for your HT system, move the BP7000SCs to your music room, and get another pair of BP7001SCs for your theater room, that way your theater room will be matched better, and we all know how you love to have things matched perfectly.

No, there has to be something better.:D

I think most speakers have some compromises. You win some, you lose some.

That is the whole point of auditioning.

You keep on trying until you find something "significantly" better.

When I can clearly and distinctly hear that bass guitar playing in (Eagles Hell Freezes Over) "Hotel California" while the drums are shaking my bones, then I will be satisfied.:D

Of course there is something better, but how much are you willing to spend?

I was willing to buy the B&W 800D or the Revel Salon2 brand new.
Your ears are ruined by the DTs.

May I suggest that you save the money for a college fund so your kid doesn't end up going to cosmetology school.

Yeah, Paradigm Studio 100 & Krell Resolution 1 (same dealer I heard the Dali Euphonia MS5).
What did you think of the Dali's? I have not heard the Euphoria line but I really liked the Helicons. They have some similarities to my Wharfedale's which is probably why I liked them.

I liked the Dali Euphonia MS5 a lot more than the B&Ws.

The midrange and treble were clear and smooth, and bass was pretty good, but not as good as the T2/T3 or BP7000/7001.
