B&W CM9 vs Dynaudio Focus 220?

Anybody have any opinions between the two of these? They are for the same target audience and the same MSRP (doubtfully finding these on sale anywhere) of $3k a pair.

B&W is a 3 way speaker with tweeter and Dyn's are two way with tweet.

I do like the looks of the B&W better, but have heard only excellent things about Dynaudio as well.

Going to hopefully be powering these with Mperfcts Marantz! :)

If you are down only to 2 speaker choice i think best for you would be just actualy pick your favourite songs and go try them both and chose one that sounds better to you.

Also maybe you should try pair of B&W 704, they should cost just around 3k $ too.

good Point, I have listened to the CM 9's and they do sound fantastic, the only problem is that I still have had no luck finding a dealer in the Houston area that stocks the Dynaudio Audience 220's.

I forgot to mention that I will be doing 60% music and 40% movies/tv for my listening pleasure.

I figured the plethora of available info on this forum would help me out in my decision.

At the end of the day, I don't think I can go wrong with either, so kind of leaning towards aesthetics right now (B&W).

longhornguy, the classifieds are your friends. Everytime you are in the store, I might suggest asking which of their floor models they would not mind letting go of for discount. Tell them you'll be patient, and even wait up to a few months. Oh, I don't know . . .

Have you heard the 804s? You can get that for 3k used or demo. I think that's what I would aim for in BWs tower lineup at said budget. If Dynaudio, I'd aim for Contours under the same circumstances. The asking price for the 3.4 is about a few hundred dollars less than the 804s are, on the classifieds.

I spent more than that on my pair, but honestly, you could give me either pair above, and color me pretty happy.

That's also a good point, I've just recently discovered audiophile forums as a trustworthy place to purchase used equipment.

My local craigslist isn't showing a whole lot for high end speakers though.

I'm still searching for a locaL store (besides Modia) that sells the B&W's, they are pretty hard to come by...
