Okay, here I go again, but man I just read Clint's review the Axiom 80 system, and for the price, I'm very hesitant in picking up the Paradigm system for 5.5K next week. Given the Axiom's price and their stellar review, I think i may give the a try. With a 30 day in home trial period, how can you lose?

Does anyone own the Axiom system, if so, what do you think?

Tabcon - We have the Epic-80/600 system and also a pair of Studio 100 V.3's. For the past 6 weeks, I have been using the Studio 100's with the VP-150/QS-8's with excellent results - they are a pretty solid match. This really is not a shock, as both speakers are quite neutral.

The Epic-80/600 system is very powerful, neutral, yet still musical. Overall, it is a tremendous value.

Awesome!

I'm going to order the Axiom's and try them. For the price, I'll be mui happy! Actually, this will help me afford the Sim2 Grand Cinema x3.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the Axiom 80-500 set-up today, should have them by wednesday. If I don't like em, I'll send em back and go ahead with the Paradigm Ref. 100's.

Still need a projector though.

I had the 500 and now have the 600. While the EP 500 is a great sub, the EP600 is simply amazing.

Thanks for the input. How do you like your system overall? Is it simply killer amazing...lol?

I wanted the larger sub, but if I position it in the proper position, it will block my projection screen. Is there possibly another solution to my dilemma?

Sure - Order it in the horizontal configuration. Like this :

Yep, simply killer amazing………

You’re gunna be one happy camper. Out of all the speakers I’ve listened to, I think the M80’s sound very similar to the Studio 100’s, but with a little more detail and at half the cost. I doubt there is any sub, regardless of cost that is any better than the 500 and 600.

When you get your toys, make sure to take the time and set it all up properly. You should also buy yourself a real test disk if you don’t have one.

Sub placement is a crap shoot too. You may find out that where you wanted it, just won’t work.

And the 600 takes up less floor space than the 500 – vertical configuration.

Would also be interesting to hear how well the 4806 powers the 80s?

I've got the Axiom M60's along with the M22's for rears & VP-100. All are excellent. I don't have the best room configuration for this combo but with some patience I've managed to find a placement that works.

I'm using a Velodyne sub (DLS-4000) so I can't comment on the 500 or 600. However, a friend of mine bought the Epic 50 system & the 175 that comes with it is a solid sub. I'd love to demo a 500.

Wow, Axiom marketing has really done their job. I won't try to dispute that the EP500 and 600 are good products, but they are by no means an end-all for subwoofer performance.

This is the type of comment that is absolutely infuriating. One guy says that he thinks Axiom's subwoofers are the best available regardless of price, and you decide to slam Axiom's marketing ?

There is another subwoofer company whose fans have roughly 10,000 posts all over the forums about how their subs can do everything from break concrete to blowing out walls ... and those 10,000 posts are ignored.

Well, you mush be right. mdrew could not possibly have come to this conclusion on his own. It was Axiom. They brainwashed him ... :p

Amen Craig, apparently some people just feel compelled to post something.

Tabcon, my guess is you would love either the 500 or 600. Both are are outstanding subs.

Sheep,

No, I wasn’t kidding. I’ve got a whole slew of Axiom products, and I’m far from brainwashed by marketing. I’ve also got other non-axiom audio products as well.

Take my comments at face value. I’m sure there are many, many other subs just as good, but better?? Maybe, but maybe not. And let’s be real here, “at any cost” was obviously a stretch. But when you figure the 600 is about $1700, it’s already in a ‘higher’ price point, so what else is out there that is actually better even if it does cost more?? Are there really that many subs over $1700 to begin with? That many subs over $1700 that folks who spend time on these boards can afford? Same with speakers, how many folks around here have a set of 80K Wilsons?

I don’t like to bicker, especially on a damn internet forums with people that I don’t know, who can say anything they want without personal accountability for what they say or the tone in which they say it.

Thanks for the sarcastic welcome though. It’s appreciated (not).

I'm sorry, but I have seen measurments of the EP600, and the SVS PB-10 out performed it(IMO). It was a shoot out done my Ikkla (typo?) and there was a big arguement about it.

The Velodyne DD series is IMO, the best for the money. They measure very well, and so do other products under similar designs (Paradigm Servo 15).

The SVS cylinders also do very well. The 20-39 PCplus had a FLAT ground plain measurement when it was in 12Hz tune. It also had Low THD until the tuning point, as well as GD.

Hsu has also proven to produce great subs. There are alot of quality subs out there, and I would argue that the EP500 or 600 are not the best.
