Wouldn't it be fairly simple to just check serial numbers to see if another unit was substituted?

I had one snag. Even though I was careful the left channel was missing from the Quad 34 preamp, which I like for LP playback in particular. It turned out to be a bad cable from the Quad 34 to the 7706. It was a "good quality' one allegedly. In my opinion cable quality has an inverse relationship to cable cost! I have never had a cheapo RCA cable fail, but I have the higher priced ones.
Ironic right? I have never had cheap cables fail either, but also have had 2 name brand ones fail.

Mark, looking at your old photos from the AV room, I see that there were no stickers on the front of your 7706. One thing the repair shop would definitely never do is place a new sticker on the front. Those only come from the factory and would not be available to repair techs. So either this is a brand new unit or a return/refurb in new condition. I would lean towards it being a new unit.

Seriously, I have no life.
Yes, but I failed in my duty!
Do you still have the original manual where you might have recorded that number, or the original box?
I try to do that with most anything not consumable.
