Is there a big difference between HDR10 and Dolby Vision on the LG OLED?
I have not noticed a big difference, but I have not tried watching HGR10 and DV content back to back as a test. Maybe I'm just too lazy, but I normally just think it's a pretty good picture without paying much attention to the format.

I noticed that a streaming sporting event a dew days ago had an exceptional picture, but I can't remember which game it was or the streaming source.

The initial differences will result from the default settings for each of them. There have been some changes from the C1 to C4 so cannot speak to the C4 settings and presentation. I have found DV to be a bit warmer in color than HDR10 when settings are made as closely to the same as possible between them. Results will vary of course. My Apple TV handles most of my streaming and is set to output everything in DV. I also have DV turned ON in my X800M2 so much of what I watch there is presented in DV as well. I did get a Fire Cube gen 3 but have not used it for some time. There is still no official word on the release of the 4th gen Apple TV 4K. LG's WebOS Smart apps work well but will be limited compared to external streamers. Frustratingly, different streaming services will not support every platform in the same way.
I set my delivery for Friday morning so excited for movies and sports.

Fire cube gen3 has the tv up/down buttons for Pluto tv (not a fan of philo tv but Pluto tv is good)

Cube also has a quick change button above the Netflix button. So you can quickly bounce from a show on HBO app to Hulu app to Netflix app to Prime. Etc. super easy :)

Currently using Fubotv for sports. I feel like fubotv app works better to forward in 15 sec multiples using the fire cube remote. It can get the Apple TV 4K gen1 confused on fubotv app doing same thing on its remote (gen2 remote). (Not sure if fubotv on the lg oled directly might be good). Using arrows to forward is a mess on Apple or cube that’s why the 15 sec is cool with right tap.

I’m on AppleTV 4K for the Atmos music for Apple Music. So I’m using it half the time. If the 4th gen gets any better specs for the music quality, I’m likely to buy one. :)

It arrives Friday so I’ll see if the $3 extra on prime matters for no commercials and to unlock DV on Prime app. If picture doesn’t drastically improve I won’t pay extra on my other apps. LOL:)

Any guesses on Black Friday sales? I’ve been kicking tires for a long time and might finally be able to update(upgrade? Lol) my dear ol plasma. Interested in LG C4/C5, G4, or maybe TCL, qm7/8.
Unfortunately, sale price will probably be the main driver of my choice. That probably means 77”, but 80ish is more where I’m looking. Such is life I guess. Not opposed to cyber Monday, or open box either. Refurbs don’t usually scare me, but I I think I would pass in this case, but Amazon is easy to deal with if any problems arise, so there’s that.
Anyways, just wondering if you guys have any insight. Thanks.

Nice to talk to you. Hope you are doing good.

I’m sure they are trying to clear inventory but I saw 1799 for c4 77 and pulled the trigger at Costco. I didn’t want to wait another month. My new GF can’t stop me on this purchase. And I’m happy she likes my subwoofers. LOL :)

I moved my old 65 tv to living room so replacing the 54 plasma with a 77 will be quite the upgrade in my man cave theater room.

I mostly limit my TV shopping to Costco and Best Buy and Amazon. I’m sure the 83 inch would be awesome for you if it falls into your budget. I did notice Hisense and TCL have nice 85in TVs but always wanted to try LG. My AVR won’t forward HDR10+ so I was searching for Dolby Vision TVs (no Samsung) Good luck in your search. :)

The 77” C4 at $1799.99 is a good deal and may go lower still. The 83” offers about 15% more screen at about double the price.

C4 supports DTS for those who may connect devices directly to it and use eARC. DTS support was discontinued yet again on C5 and ATSC 3.0 tuner is still gone as well.
