Please say that those subwoofers go below 30Hz. For 75 grand, I would get 1 hert.

Really nice setup

Maybe, someday I'll have that. The only thing I would like to have seen added would be the optional equipment like what is listed in the other price categories.

Jax, thanks for finding the typo.

RE: the subs extension:
RBH is coming out with a 1010 version of their sub for CinemaSITE but since its not yet officially released, we used the SI-12's which despite their spec's have very good extension, tactile response and linearity. I can assure you four of these in a theater room will give you plenty of bass and extension. Sure you could probably get big monster box subs to outgun each of these at the same price, but thats not the point. This is a fully integrated solution that blends into the room decor as furniture.

RE: Optional Equipment
each category does have alternative equipment listed when appropriate. I was going to add in a tabulated price list at the end, but this article became too complex considering all of the alternative options and upgrades we listed. I recommend jotting down the items that interest you and calculating the total price. I got between $60-85k depending on how I configured it. FYI; the $5k system used in Zone 2 has all of the items tabulated.

RE: Cable price
We only recommend companies we have direct experience with their products and services. In that respect, Bluejeans is simply one of the best and IMO worth the extra cost simply b/c they stand behind their products and promptly ship their orders.

Thanks Gene.

I didn't know you were using 4 of them

RE: Subwoofers for 75K System

RBH did infact release their inwall version of the 1010 subwoofer. They just haven't had a chance to update their site. These are very good subs and most importantly, you don't see big boxes since they are integrated into CinemaSITE. We have updated the system accordingly.

Emotiva update.

Gene,
The $75k looks very similar to what you are installing in the new house. Good thing you didn't have to pay retail.

Also note: The Emotiva MPS-1 amp can now be purchased with any number of mono amp channels from 2-7. Additional mono amps and the new stereo 2 channel amp module can be purchased seperately. At 2 channels x 90 Watts @ 8 ohms and 125 Watts @ 4 ohms, the stereo modules would make a good solution for multiple zones.

$75000 budget and a Carada screen????????????

There's some backscratching going on.

Wow, an accusation in the first 10 posts. This might be a record! Go ahead and spend the extra $1300. Sorry about that.

We put in options for people who want the absolute best (or perhaps a name brand), but we didn't feel that the slightly better opacity or uniform brightness of the $2000 screens was worth taking away some of the other items in the system.

It's ultimately a judgement call. I have a StudioTek 130 in one of my rooms and a Carada Brilliant White in the other. I also have a great calibration and measurement rig from datacolor so I'm pretty qualified when I say that they are VERY close in real-world viewing.

Sorry to give you a hard time Clint, but it just seems too out of place. Most reviewers notice a "big" difference in the screens. I have examined the quality of Stewart screens and the Carada. Big difference to me.

for example, projector central study in screen briteness. (carada the worst)

Stewart Studiotek 130 130%
Draper M1300 125%
Da-lite CinemaVision 110%
Goo Systems CRT White 100%
Vutec BriteWhite 90%
Carada Classic Cinema White 65%

I think that whoever spends 75K on a system will want to spend an extra grand to get the "best" available.

Maybe they could give up the popcorn stand to stay within budget.

I was going to be negative in the third post but I decided not to be the first!:p

I was hoping for $75,000 all in one room.:D

This is cool too!!!

good work.

Again, people should buy what they are comfortable with - that's not a problem and the alternates are listed for a reason.

Projector Central reviewed the Classic Cinema White (and for the life of me I'm not sure why, as that screen is completely different from the others reviewed in that article). We don't recommend that screen. We recommend the Brilliant White. There is a world of difference. Feel free to PM me if you have further questions (so the thread doesn't get derailed).

It has some of the elements for my showcase home such as the 5805 and front projector but you will soon see my Showcase home takes things up a notch for audionuts like me.

This is only a first of many recommended systems to come. I am currently working on a $100k 2CH system now :D

Which Yamaha or Denon reciver are you going use in this one??

And I assume without seeing the article that you are going to put those big RBH jammies in it....Shocking:eek:

Great work guys!

I really enjoy reading these articles.

The only comment I would have is to include audio racks or cabinets in all of the suggested systems. They can get expensive and are a critical piece to the long term performace of any AV system IMO.

Cheers!

dont mean to too critical because i' gratefull for all the work you guys do on this forum, but i was looking forward to the all-out system, and well, it was a bit dissapointing if i may say so.

i know of a policy you guys have, if i havent read wrong, of only recommending products you have reviewed, and there is often good sense in that. but how many +$15k components have been reviewed by audioholics? maybe you need to keep your sponsors happy?

this article was never realistically going to be that usefull, cause i dont think audioholics has too much sway amongst those with &75k to plonk down. i think the aticle would have been a better read if had gone the more adventurous route of merely providing eye/ear candy for the most of us to dream about.

personal opinion, but i think anyone with that kind of money, should they be reading here, would be better off looking at high end seperates from companies that know how to make 2-channel audio gear. unless you have another &75k to spend on a music-only system. try arcam, naim, krell, levinson, classe, simaudio, yba etc etc. hell, i'd even wager my two front speakers that the new nad master series will butt-kick the 5805 strait back to tokyo.

and anyone with that budget concidering in-wall speakers should be keel-hauled in my not-so-humble-tonight opinion:)

i thought the acoustic consult and treatment a good idea i must say.

cheers
