$1,000 System
I like it. The decision to assume at this level people will just stay with the TV they have and wish to augment the sound makes a lot of sense.
I had an earlier version of that Onkyo receiver, $299 at Circuit City about four years ago, I used it for three years and was surprised at how decent it was, solid sound, enough power and did both Dolby and DTS just fine. Of course, at this price point, a decent HTIAB makes the most sense, and I've heard many good things about Athena products at the affordable price points.
Anyone who is starting with just a TV or is currently piping their VCR through an old stereo will find their enjoyment quotient upped significantly with this system. Great job!
