A couple more things that might be helpful to you in addition to the GiK videos and the podcast:

1) give GiK a phone call and just chat with them. They're extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful over there. You can send them photos and diagrams, and they can make recommendations and explain the reasoning to you.

2) take advantage of Auralex' Room Analysis services. If you have a measurement microphone or even just an SPL Meter, you can pay for the "Room Analysis Plus" service, where you play a specific test tone file that Auralex sends you, and you record the results and send it back to them for analysis. That one costs money, but they also have a FREE service where you simply fill out forms and provide diagrams and photos. With that, they can provide general advice and guidelines. And it's free, so why not, right? :)

Really glad to hear that the replacement J25B is working properly! I hate it when a product I've recommended screws up. Makes me look like a chump  But at least APC came through for you. They're a solid company. But it never looks good when a faulty product gets sold. Never-the-less, I think you'll really appreciate having the battery backup in your system now. First power outage while a DVR recording is running? It'll all be worth it ;)

No worries, it worked out in the end and I appreciated your help along the way . . . I will say this about the experience: The fella, Dan Camara, that I spoke w/ from Schneider Electric (I don't quite understand the relationship between Schneider Electric & APC); but this fella was excellent in getting this thing remedied . . . he suggested a couple 'problem solving approaches' & then basically offered to send a replacement. That being said, I ordered the unit thru Amazon.com; however, the order was fulfilled by a company called "Ocean Reef Electronics" . . . well, I'd not likely order anything else thru Ocean Reef Electronics . . . I've had nothing but excellent experiences w/ Amazon . .. (I order from them all the time) . . . but I missed the fine print on this one, & it was this company . . . and I'm not 'bagging' on this particular company; but I do have reservations (after the fact): (1) when I initially tried to contact them regarding the defective APC unit, they basically said "well, we don't provide that kind of support" & (2) the APC unit was shipped in it's original packaging (much like you'd pick it up at a brick & mortar store) . . . unlike the replacement unit I received from APC, it was double boxed and well packed . . . anyway, that's that . .. and 'Bob's your uncle.'

Thanks always . . .

I'll admit that I haven't read this entire thread, but I had to post this - the monkey image in the subject line is brilliant (and you used another one in a post)! Six years on here, and that's the first time that I've seen anything like that. It was even scalable on my iPad. Hats off, my man. It's not often that my inner geek gets all excited, but that image got me going. :D
