Atkins diet increases mortality (i.e., you will likely die sooner with it).

Seriously, I have no life.
If you eat low carb food like chicken and fish instead of pork and eggs I think you will be fine. You don't have to eat high fat food to follow the diet it is your choice.
Chicken and fish are low carb? Huh? If you mean low fat, chicken has a lot of fat but how much of the fat from any meat depends on how it's cooked. Pork can be as lean as any other meat but some have more cholesterol than others. Beef is one of the worst.

If that's the case, then why does the first study find an increase in cardiovascular mortality while the second one says no?
Perhaps the way the two studies were performed? What they were looking for? Controlled for? Lots of things can make the outcomes different. Happens in medical studies;):D

Fish, and Chicken are high protein and certainly not high in fat in the majority of cases. Beef can be as healthy as chicken if you get lean beef. I'm able to hit my protein targets with Fish, Chicken, Beef, and even Bacon(high sodium). If you are talking fried chicken and fish it's the fat you fried onto the outside that made it unhealthy. Of course fried chicken is even okay in moderation.

I find calorie counting is very helpful for those who need to lose weight or add muscle. White bread is like eating sugar.

I have been doing the adkins diet for 3 months, and i have had at most 3 pieces of bacon. I eat cheese, fish, chicken and salads mostly. And i have lost 30 pounds in 3 months.

Mostly i just don't eat junk food or bread...and i try and eat a minimal amount of red meat. I ret and only eat stuff that comes from the outer walls of the supermarket...there is really nothing on the inside isles that we should be eating anyway...that has nothign to do with being on the adkins, that food is just completely unhealthy.

Is the adkins a healthy diet? Like a gun or a fast car...depends on the user...but i am eating way more healthy than i was before i started.

Except that sugar tastes better.
Oh no you got it all wrong. Sugar tastes better when combined with white bread to produce Donuts, Strudel, Kolaches, Cinnamon Rolls, Maple Twists, and any other delight one might think of. :D

But that does not alter the fact that vegetarians, on average, live longer than meat eaters, and that vegans live longer than vegetarians who eat eggs and dairy.
That's extremely debatable. I've seen studies that show that moderate "healthy" meat eaters (mostly fish) live longer than any of them, with vegetarians next, and vegans not really much better than meat eaters.

There have been a lot of total bullshit "studies" that show vegans living enormously longer than everyone else, that don't take into account things like exercise and proclivity to alcohol or tobacco abuse. I.e. they're completely inaccurate/useless.

Please provide links to these studies you mention. Thank you.

Data from herehttp://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/70/3/516S

Summary from wikipedia:
A 1999 metastudy combined data from five studies from western countries. The metastudy reported mortality ratios, where lower numbers indicated fewer deaths, for fish eaters to be .82, vegetarians to be .84, occasional meat eaters to be .84. Regular meat eaters and vegans shared the highest mortality ratio of 1.00. The study reported the numbers of deaths in each category, and expected error ranges for each ratio, and adjustments made to the data. However, the "lower mortality was due largely to the relatively low prevalence of smoking in these [vegetarian] cohorts". Out of the major causes of death studied, only one difference in mortality rate was attributed to the difference in diet, as the conclusion states: "vegetarians had a 24% lower mortality from ischemic heart disease than nonvegetarians, but no associations of a vegetarian diet with other major causes of death were established."
