I watched the video and, yes, pretty interesting and informative. However, Fryer's analysis of police shooting data is not unquestioned.

I like McMaster's take on the issue. We need more empathy in this world.

As for Ferguson, while his participation as host of this video is fairly innocuous, there isn't much of his previous work or opinions that I agree with. His prominence is due more to being controversial than scholarly, IMHO.

The thought of this saddens me.
Yeah, regardless of whether he "deserves" such abuse, the fact remains that it's up to the courts to decide on punishment, not the other inmates. That goes for anyone in prison.

Seriously, I have no life.
I never said anything at all blaming Trump for what those policemen did in Minneapolis. Yet your response starts off as if I claimed that. For someone who likes to criticize others for their lack of "reading comprehension", I don't see any evidence that you even read what I had previously said:
Sorry- by "this", I meant the violence/killings by cops in general, not specific to MPLS. I'll edit that.

I agree with your other points, although I don't think that defunding the Police is a bad idea because it agrees with Trump, I think it's a bad idea because it will result in more crime that can't be stopped or even investigated.

Some do not care about nothing. Just last night on theLocal news more Cases and deaths were reported around the area where I live. So as I was leaving she goes, Peace out, told to Shove it!

I had noticed her and her clan of misfits walking around the store they where running Amok around the store testing other shoppers with Antics. I made a point Not to pass or be down the same Isles as that clan. Some wanta be Mother will let the world burn for the sake of their Misfit offsprings. She and her clan where loud, being Obnoxious to the point other shoppers where trying to stay as far away as one could. I noticed they where Following the ones with mask and gloves on. They found me, Singled me out good thing I'm the man I am. But what ones to do when you have An unethical person that's the Leader of a pack of Degenerates.

Every time I think about it, it was just too insane.
It would be one thing if adrenaline was running high, but 8 minutes is a long time to just calmly watch someone die when they are not resisting. It was daylight (no "thought I saw a knife") and the guy was in cuffs and on his belly. It may not be premeditated to make for 1st degree murder, but he did have plenty of time to "take a breath" and consider what he was doing and make a conscious decision to stick with it. This was not really a reflex act or act of immediate emotion like second degree normally is. It doesn't meet the letter of the law for first degree (which is what actually matters); however, I do believe it probably meets the intent behind the distinction of 1st degree murder!
1st or 2nd, it really doesn't matter because either gets him in jail long enough for his life as he knows it to effectively be over (if not literally over)!
Watching the video...it clearly was a case of the officer being in complete control of the handcuffed suspect. Most of the people in my circle with law back grounds don't seem to think murder1 would apply....as you mentioned, letter of the law.

A good question – what does one do when you run into a pack of degenerates? Avoid them.

Never wrestle with a turd. It makes no difference if you win or lose, you still end up with sh!t all over you.

If you have time to burn, find the manager of the store and complain. Ask them to escort the degenerates to the door. If the manger won't do that, tell him good bye, as he has just lost a customer.

He could even try that with his own posts as he apparently failed to read even those, or more likely, just an attempt to deflect from what he himself wrote in previous posts.

Corporations being what they are, most of the stores are Franchised here. Best thing for anyone would not to send money there in the first place with issues like that. I worked retail for over 20 year's. Good points Swerd. Word of mouth gets out Quickly. It's a hassle to shop anywhere in the city I live in. There are "clicks" at just about every store that is here. One could walk in get Hassled just for not saying Excuse me its like most will make a point just to try and see if they can get a person to move and if that person doesn't Acknowledge right away you may just have a Confrontation on your hands. Me? When I go shopping I'm not there to make friends I'm doing Business, and Business is business in my book you leave friendship at the door.

Okay so I've really been keeping my head down a lot lately at work at home on social media and just listening to all sides researching and taking a lot of stuff in hearing what people have to say

I think the Hoover Institution interview I linked above and the article I linked right now best describe my feelings and thoughts at this point allow me gentleman to clarify

Point #1 for me I am definetly wanting justice for George Floyd and there is no doubght in anyonas mind or at least most of us of all color that there is an issue with how our police in areas across the nation use force and lack of respect on our citizens of color and other ethnicities as well I want to be crystal clear on that

Point#2 In the beginning this was protesting about proper policing for all our citizens and the reform of a culture of discrimination in our police departments and a increase of social awareness for some of the room to grow we still have on racial tension in the United States. This has been polarized by the press and hijacked politically to the point that the message is no longer as clear as it was and is kind off getting out of control

Point #3 As a person that was born into a family that refused to tolerate racism and was taught to respect all people I've always been encouraged to get involved legislatively and in my time off such as volunteering at Haven for Hope here in San Antonio to try to become involved in these issues and make an effort to be part of the solution but not part of the problem

Point #4 I'm now getting confused about what the protesting and movement wants me to do to be part of the solution. I feel they are so angry and frustrated at this point they are just becoming unrealistic with some of There expectations for example unfund the police or disband them entirely? For example articles written stating we will no longer tolerate our white supporters being silent if your not with us your against us type of language. I could go on and on but you get the point. What's concerning me is okay if you want me to be more proactive then how? What's enough for you? That's a slippery slope that's being projected. Granted people's emotions are hot I'm just waiting for things to calm down so we can really dialogue as a nation in communities and on a personal level where we can figure out what can we realistically do to come together and give your cause more support. Not hearing a lot of solutions offered except extreme ones which never work history dies tend to reflect that

Point #5 I think the article was spot on in showing the OBVIOUS issues of disparity on the use of forceon less lethal incidents used on our minorities especially our black community and the frustration and anger it's created

Point 6# I agree with the article on defunding police is a disaster if anything we need more funding which creates as stated a culture of change which allows incentives and motivation for our police culture to not only change but to self police themselves with that change. History has shown after the riots and police withdrawal from communities infrastructure and businesses don't get rebuilt education and economy oppurtunities get reduced crime increases and the community as a whole suffers just creating the downward spiral even more

Point #7 the reaction when police leave an area or police it less in troubled areas is I agree for crime to just escalate I think community based policing rather the driving around in your car just looking for bad guys is the direction we need to head towards

Point #8 I agree with the article on the point that reform needs to happen from the bottom up as well as the top down. And that it needs to adress community responsibility and also hopefully this movement launches a platform for change in our education system as well as economic system as well as addresses the situations union have created with our schools and in our police institutions. If you don't change the underlying factors of what's really driving these cycles of discrimination your never really solve the problem

Point #9 I EMPHATICALLY agree that we have lost empathy right now and need to work to reattain it both in our black and other minority communities caught up in this

But also with our police there needs to be empathy there because I agree 100% this is a leadership failure to support these men and women. The things they are exposed to dies create trauma and it does change you as a person in my work in psychiatric care I've been exposed to this seen some horrible stuff and it leaves it's Mark I had to go to therapy for PTSD and still I go 3 to 4 times a year to keep myself healthy and address the issues it creates. Any movement of reform that not only fails to look at treating our black Americans as human beings with the right solutions but then doesn't turn around and address our police officers with a human solution that gives them the same dignity and respect in its platform for change is just doomed to fail. What's diffent for me vs the police is my workplace has excellent leadership and is very vocal at spotting and giving its employees the support they need therapeutically and also with compounding factors such as home etc to help us when we spiral I've needed there support on 3 separate occasions in the last 10 year's when I've spotted the warning signs and they've been there for me and other staff to help get us out of those places. Something I've also seen the military make great progress in but feel it needs to be addressed more? And improved on in our police departments

Those are my feelings on the matter and I'm definetly open to some good discussion and feedback from all you guys to help me learn more on how to better look at educate myself and be part of the solution and not the problem.

Keep in mind, in addition to things being hot right now, that protesters aren't an organized monolithic bloc.

With respect to defunding / abolishing the police, explanations seem to vary, which isn't surprising given the above. For my part I get that a large swath of people feel the current system of justice isn't actually just at all, and that things are so broken that incremental changes like banning choke holds aren't even close to enough. I can also understand anger that some police departments can afford surplus military gear / vehicles, but we can't afford to deal with mental health episodes (as an example) in any way beyond sending an armed police response. As I see it, there aren't going to be any easy answers / fixes, whether it's banning choke holds or abolishing the police.

It sure would be nice to have an established plan for later this year when the temperature starts dropping.
You mean beyond Mike Pence running the CDC for the next four years?
'Cause he only just started there. You gotta give him some time.
