My last CRT was a 25 in 2012. Didn't bring it with me to my new apt as I already had a 39 and 32 LCD. Still have both. That said if it works just move it somewhere that you don't watch tv much but might someday. Hey you own it and its not worth anything anyway.

Are htdv tube worth keeping?? It’s so heavy for 30” screen size … great picture but small like 120-130 pounds

The best thing to do with those TVs is to make them explode. It's fun. We threw one out of a van once (when I was a much less responsible person) and it was DESTROYED itself. It was pretty cool.

Don't do what I did to blow it up, but maybe something a little less illegal.
I think technically, they implode!

Still pretty dramatic!

Here is the real answer:

There is some value and some people do seek CRT TVs. These are the retro gaming enthusiasts! The game systems from about the original Playstation and XBOX were all designed to play on CRTs and 4:3 ratio. For real retro gaming enthusiasts, CRTs are the ONLY authentic way to play those games.

Similarly, the old light gun games will only work on CRT technology, so that makes them desirable for a small group of dedicated gamers.

In general, the Sony Trinitron are often considered some of the best CRTs available, but there are others that are desirable.

There's trillions of hours of free porn online, but keeping a tube tv for a few VHS tapes is the ultimate guy move.

Yes, vacuum in there for the electron beam. Pressure outside, none inside, wonder which way it will go. ;) :D
It’s like space ..

Who knew crt was so complicated

Seriously, I have no life.
On the other hand, when all those broken glass flies inside and if the back shell is in one piece, the glass chards will bounce back and perhaps exit the tube.
A good experiment to see the effect.

Yeah I live in the city and yard is too small for a demolition of a tube tv ,

It’s widescreen crt , 1080i 30” so it’s small compared to led / lcd ..

No, not worth it. Haven't you complained about having too many TV's in the past, especially CRT's that you weren't able to move? And now you're considering getting more?

It’s one I already have , but if it’s so heavy I was wondering if I should keep it as a back up or get rid of it ..

The standard def one got thrown out , didn’t even get to check the DVD player ..: too see if anything was in it.

Just keep it and then in the future you won't be tempted to buy another one. :)

Just don’t know if I’ll ever actually use this tv , stuck in parents house my idea of using two TVs beside each other wasn’t allowed … tho I did it in bedroom .

Been sitting in garage for 2-3 years …

My last CRT TV was a RCA 38" wide screen, to the the best of my knowledge the largest made. It was a beast, almost 300 lbs
Sony made some 40” ones I think but I could be wrong like 300-400 pounds.. hdtv models got pretty large .. wow 38”!!!!
My mom tossed it on the curb and trash wouldn’t take it , is it worth saving??

120 pounds dam, 80-85 pounds heavier then my extra 55” tv im currently not using .. may end up hooking it back up over a panny plasma … prob not soon tho :
Weight alone makes it near impossible to carry that thing …o_O:eek:

Our trash collection will not take CRTs either. All electronics are supposed to go for recycling, not the local dump. Does your city have a recycling program? Are there local companies that do electronics recycling? Some may pick up items. Some charities do electronics collection to raise money.

I didn’t want it to go there was forced , it works fine .. but it’s too heavy for me to use anywhere upstairs:.
Has good enough picture to keep imo.
