Afternoon !

I have 2 applet tv's connected to my Yamaha a4a. One for HT and one for 2 channel audio. The one for 2 channel audio ( set to STEREO only) has an HDMI to optical converter straight out of the apple tv into the Yamaha. Optical goes to an external dac and then I use audio 2 in straight. The HDMI out goes only to HDMI out 2.

Whenever I use this one first, the yamaha freezes and I can't do anything with it all. I then have to do a hard reset making me restart all configurations etc etc. Also, if ever I have the projector on and light up the 2 channel apple tv, it will also freeze.

Hoping I am clear! Thanks for any kind of help on this.

How old are the AppleTVs? Apple has a bad habit of deciding their stuff is 'obsolete', so they stop writing updates, all without telling the users. Try to update the AppleTVs and if they hang up/never finish, call AppleCare and find out what's going on. They'll want the serial numbers of anything you call about, as usual.

Yikes. Ok, now complete the device and connections used in the system information. Model of each Apple TV? TV? Projector? DAC? HDMI to optical converter? Ports used to connect each device? HDMI-CEC enabled all around?

Sending the signal to a DAC and then back to the Yamaha over an analog connection and using a Straight decode of the signal in the Yamaha subjects the signal to ADC to apply DSP and then to yet another DAC.

Thanks for the response, I have to admit, getting (insert word of your choice) discouraged!

They are the latest gen applet tvs. Just bought the one that is in Stereo mode in December.

Monitor is a pc monitor 4k from ACER.
Projector Epson 2350
Yamaha RX A4a
Dac Reimyo DAP 777

Applet tv (1) for HT is a 4k Model a2843
Applet tv (2) for Stereo is a 4k same model a2843
Both are up to date. The Yamaha is plugged Ethernet and has the latest firmware update.

The converter I don't see the model number, but it is HDCP 2.2

This time to get it going again, I had to unplug both Apple tvs and plug only the HT one.

I forgot to ask about the source of your music. Apple Music app? Media server?

What is the model of Mac mini? Do you have the Mac mini placed near the receiver for a possible wired connection?

I have a Mac mini M1 and an Apple TV 4K 1st Generation connected to my receiver via HDMI and also connected to my wifi network.

The Home Sharing feature is ON in my Apple devices and I have downloaded the iTunes remote app in my iOS devices to control playback of music in my Mac. If your Mac is newer and capable and is also connected to your receiver via HDMI, use the iTunes Remote app to select music for playback. With an HDMI connection, Dolby Atmos bitstream will be available to you if it is ON in the Apple Music settings. Downloads and albums added to your library from the Apple Music service will be available to you using the Remote app.

If you care about hi-res signals making it to your receiver without other devices tampering with them on their way to it, you will want a wired connection from the Mac to the receiver. Your DAC and Apple TV 4Ks support 48/24 but not 192/24 from hi-res tracks. Newer Macs support 192/24 multichannel over HDMI. They can Airplay Lossless 44.1/16.

Oh, and the projector here does not support 4K HDR @60Hz. If you want HDR from the Apple TV 4K, you will need to set it to output 4K HDR @30Hz 10 bit. With both Apple TV 4Ks connected to the receiver, make sure HDMI-CEC is disabled in every device. If the projector is connected to the Yamaha's HDMI OUT #1, make sure HDMI Link is OFF in the projector as well.
