Re: Bluetooth and FireWire
Think of Bluetooth as a replacement for USB. Short-range wireless, slow speed. Mostly for mouse/keyboard/palm/celphone connections.
FireWire is like SCSI/SATA/IDE, but self-configuring so you don't have to mess with jumpers to set IDs or master/slave or anything. FW400 is 400 Mbps, in practice a little faster than USB 2.0 if you're using an external hard drive. FW800 is supposed to be 2x as fast, but there aren't any drives that can run at that full speed.
Hey dj,
i am finally getting the GO for the iBook, pretty much convinced by your added clarifications that I need an iBook only and not a powerbook, atleast at this stage. Who knows abt the future.
As I said earlier, from the extras point of view, I am going for these:
1. an extra slot of 256 RAM
2. A Bluetooth.
but i dont know if the bluetooth is worth the expenditure.
I have a cellfone to be used with it, and a few friends who have iPods.
I have a memory stick which is connected via a USB Port.
so, i dont really know if i am takin the right kinda decision.
I am buying the iBook from Dubai.
Any idea about this place??
Is it a better place, if I have an option to get it from there?
Any comments??
.
