I think a moderator should step in and stop the endless rants about Paradigm. You made your point. Enough already.

To repeat: You say you got "screwed" with no further explanation. Worthless commentary. And I also don't buy into the "Evil Company" scenario.
I had a problem with a sub and it was handled immediately and professionaly. So when I upgraded, I stayed with 'digms. Love the sound.

Edit:
To the OP: I heard the new mini-monitors a couple of weeks back. They sounded wonderful and I might pick up a pair for my rears. In fact, my dealer (who's a big B+W guy) said he thought the new monitors were going to spell trouble for the B+W 600's......

Thanks bon for the info well the b&w 600 are a solid entry level speaker. you did not get to hear the new titan monitor?? What kinda price were the v5 mini's going for???

As regards those who persist with their complaints thanks but no thanks. Try being positive for once maybe state some you liked about another speaker?? Is that too much to ask. Its getting a bit annoying this constant complaining enough already......... go cry some tears and ok it you like never buy paradigm ok??? life will go on

Hey Chico. As the Titan got abosrbed into the monitor line that might have well been what I was hearing as the mini and the old Titan were about the same size. I don't know pricing as the regional rep was jsut installing the v5s.
I don't think the folks at the store knew yet. Have a good holiday! - B

Never read reviews after you buy something

I have been shopping for speakers for about a year. I have listened to many, many sets with B&W 703's drawing me back each time however, a little beyond what I want to pay. I auditioned the Studio 60's for about an hour the other night and liked them very much. Nearly purchased them then and there until I learned about the v4 so I set up and audition for today. I was equally pleased and happy to hear a bigger bass and smoother high end. I would say that the studio 60’s has for me what the 703's lack in bass, and they are a damn attractive speaker. I like em. I don't expect to have any problems with my new speakers but if I do I'll deal with it. Bottom line is I like what I'm hearing in my living room and not the rant of one person’s bad experience.

I'm confident about the dealer I am working with as they have been in town for about 20 years and I believe carrying Paradigm for much of that time.

I have to say that after reading these posts I am a little sick to my stomach.

I am glad you also felt this way... I agree that I am hesitant about all the cr@p talk, but I cannot deny the fact that these speakers sound way better then any of the 600 or 700 line of B&W to me.. I really like the look of the B&W, but I don't think the sound is better.. and deff. not worth the price...
The sound of the Studio line is more closely equal to the B&W 800 series to me..

Lack of bass is exactly what was on my mind.. even my dealer said to me..
The Studio line is giving his B&W 600 and 700 a huge run for their money..Bang for the Buck goes to Paradigm.. Fit & Finish goes to B&W...

But Im not buying them for furniture... Im buying them to please my ears..
I wish that there was an upgrade option to wrap those Studios in Wood Vaneer... I even thought about doing it myself... hhehe Rosewood !!!

I'm in the process of helping my parents put together a system and they had been looking at Paradigm, but I'm not sure paradigm has anything really ideal in their price range (or rather, what they think is worth spending).

The Studios are nice but more than they want to be bothered with. The Millennia don't impress me that much though, which is unfortunate because their pricing is perfect.

I've become more wary of Paradigm from reading about various people having warranty issues so I think I'm going to start pushing them towards B&W, Focal or some other brands. Unfortunate but I think it's for the best, they don't need to risk dealing with nonexistant customer support. I'm not sure I'd take the gamble either when there are so many other good speakers out there with more consistent support.

Well one can't believe everything they hear. But i understand if you think something might be a prob to avoid it. I've not had chance or priviledge to hear paradigms new line but i'm seriously thinking or get a pair or speakers from them even if its the last line as demo's. Personally i will give them the benefit of the doubt. And yes their new line does look impressive :). Anyone specifically heard the titan monitors or the studio 20's. By the way is monitor line not real wood veneer? what is the cabinet made from??? Anyone know???

I listened to the Millennium 200s recently. Can't say I was particularly excited by them. The room was too big for them, but even taking that in to account I'm not sure they're going to be any giant killers.

I recently heard the Studio 40 V4s

and had a chance to compare them to the Studio 60 V3s. The only issue was that the speakers were not setup in an ideal way. They were way too close to other speakers and could not really be toed in for optimal sound. The electronics driving them were also not very good. What I did notice was that the V4s had a bit more "life", better midrange which opened up vocals, and a smoother (more transparent) high end. There seemed to be a decent amount of distortion which made the music slighlty unpleasant, especially in the higher frequencies but I'm chalking that up to the subpar electronics. Overall, I would say the V4s are better because they are more transparent than the V3s. At least enough to justify the price increases.

Hope this helps all who are shopping around.

I just picked up the v5 11s and moved my v4 11s to my rears. I am very pleased.
I got them new at Truetone in Mississauga during Boxing Week for only CDN$835 and also got a deal on a Servo 15 v2, only CDN$1750. Tell me those prices are not stunning.

SACD and DVD-Audio have never sounded better - the Servo 15 v2 is an amazing sub. I'm literally floored by how deep, powerful and controlled it is.

You don't have to believe anything. I'm simply conveying my experience with them (and that of my two friends) and warning people that they are very inconsistent and selective in their approach to honoring warranties and providing quality customer service.

I have explained in general terms what occured, but since you require further details, here is excatly what happened.

I had the Anthem MCA 50 five channel amp. After three and a half months of ownership, the transformer started humming and buzzing loudly. Not just through the tweeter in my Paradigm Monitor 9 speakers; but you could hear it well even from six feet away from the amp. Then the left channel crapped out on me.

I called my dealer and he called Paradigm. Paradigm told him they wouldn't repair that. First they said "transformer noise" is normal for all amps and that I wasn't experiencing a malfunction, they said " that's the way it is with all amps. "

Then I called them and they said I must have done something to the left channel and that I'm the one who screwed it up. So the warranty would not cover my mistake and my screw up.

I never even took the top off the MCA 50. Never. I'm not a tweeker and I don't know anything about that stuff, when it comes to tweeking, DYI or fixing that stuff.

I told tham I never unscrewed the screws on the amp and never removed the top. They basically implied, without coming right out and saying it, that I was lying; without ever taking the time and effort to have me ship the amp to them, so they could see for themselves.

Then my dealer called them several times to try and work something out and they refused. I called them roughly 8-12 times trying to work something out. They refused.

Eventually, after all those calls they offered to take a look at it, but I would have to pay them $250.00 up front (plus pay for the shipping), just for them to take a look and that any work after that would be dependant on how many hours and parts it would take to fix. I was outraged. They were completely renegging on the warranty which wasn't even six months old.

Excuse my language, but after they said that crap, I told them " to **** off and that I would never buy their gear...ever again." They hung up on me before I could finish the sentence.

I looked around for a few months and found someone to fix it for me. It cost me $125.00 in total. The transformer was loose and one of the wires from the tranformer was screwed up. The left channel was fixed too. The connection was messed up.

Then I sold the MCA 50 and my Paradigm Monitor 9 speakers. It made me want to puke to have their gear in my house. I was disgusted.

My two friends had equally troublesome experiences with the drivers of their Studio 80 Speakers and Studio 60 speakers, respectively.

Eventually they sold their Paradigm speakers and washed their hands of that company, too.

So believe what you want, but don't ever say you weren't warned; if you too fall into that select group of Paradigm/Anthem customers who get the shaft.

Good luck.

Hey Dobyblue,

I have the Monitor 11s v.4 in my system, and have not heard the version 5's yet. I do happen to love the 4's but you are the first person I've come accross that can make a direct comparision between the Monitor 11v4 and v5.

I am very curious to know what your feedback is on the two. I can imagine that you must like the 5's since you purchased them, but did you find any noticable improvements in sound on the 11's v.5 over the v.4? I would appreciate your feedback when you get the time.

I have a friend that had trouble with his adp470 tweeters. He called the store where he bought them(same store I bought my 20's v4 and cc590) and 3 days later he had four new tweeters. He took the old tweeters out and put the new ones in.That was good service.
