Anyone heard of "Kingsound" electrostatic loudspeakers?

Tawnos, I haven't contributed for a while, mostly because I've been too busy trying to digest all the wisdom you've been dishing out about ESL speakers, and ML's in particular. Thank you for your insight.

Planars suck!

Oh, great, now this is just turning into an all speakers bashing thread.

Is there really a point or purpose to this thread anymore?

What the heck

I might as well contribute too.

At about.com I found an article that briefly touched on the different types of speakers (dynamic, electrostatic, and ribbon/planar speaker). One thing it mentioned about electrostatic speakers is " Additionally, electrostatics need to be plugged into a wall outlet to charge the stators. That drives up electric bills. Also, stators and membranes sometime come into contact with each other, causing a short-circuit and they begin to actually smoke."

Stators coming into contact with one another is not very common anymore, as most manufacturers have found a way to prevent or at least make it less likely to happen. The most common reason for a short circuit in a ESL is not cleaning them properly. Too much dust can cause it or something getting lodged in the grid could also cause it.

As for electricity, you have to pay to get sound, and the sound is good.:D

No just ML's, but I guess I will have to take some pictures.
No you don't need to take pictures, you need to sell them since you have no intensions of fixing them. Like I said before, no sense in letting them rot in your basement.

Agree. Suddenly this thread is all about ML.

Anyway, I have not heard of ESLs producing smoke.

Not so! Only ported speakers suck. They also blow. They do it through the vent/tube. Planars don't got no stinkin' port. So they can't suck!:D
