ok so i have two. technics sa-ex100's reciver amps. (i do like the amp, class h+ "dont ask me what the + is about")

and 1 of them is powering 2x jamo power laser 2000p's
the other one is powering 2x technics sb-f90's (honey comb)
all the speakers are floor standing.

the technics produce the most bass so i have them on the floor, then the jamos sit on top of them.

Personally i find this to be a very nice rounded setup. as the tweeters of the technics are at eye level when im sat, and then the tweeters of the jamos are at eye level when im standing,

I really like the setup but for some reason others seem to think i could have done better,
A freind of mine is running some B&W's through i think a merants amp. and he tells me he really likes the sound from my system, the fidelity and range, but he also says he thinks his B&W's are better (is this just a case of "my child is always going to be better than your child) because i really dont see how his is better,

At low volume levels with my set up everything is very audable. and at 50% power you would be hard pressed to stay in the room for a long time as it is simply to loud. "no distortion"
I chose the setup for the 0.5% thd and the power to drive the bass drivers "i like a clear and powerful bass"

Basically how much better could i get my set up if i started sinking a few more £100 in to it. and would it be worth it. i dont see how the sound quality can impreve by enough to warant any serious money spent.

So you have 2 sets of speakers playing the same material? I am a little lost, forgive me if I misunderstood this...

If you like your system there's no need to change it in order to impress your buddy who will always find fault with anyones elses system except his. Letting someone else tell you what you should like is a great way to waste money and still never be satisfied.

yes i have 2 amps and 4 speakers. they all play the same thing at the same time. I had originaly decided to have one amp do left speaker and the other one the right speaker, but the amps were not bridgable, so now i have two left speakers and two right speakers.

i am a sucker for volume from time to time. but i also hate distortion. so the only real way i could achieve a lot of volume whilst staying at 0.3-0.5% thd was to get a second matching amp.

I like the setup but i do think i would need some sort of graphic eq as well
(i do love to tweak with the frequency levels)

i did have a fisher ca-77 and a sony TA-FE230 "there were used individually and not at the same time"
i had no real problem with either of them only that they were a bit under powered "50w rms per channel @ 8ohm and a min of 8ohm"
After i bought my 1st technics sa-ex100 i decided that it was pretty much what i wanted. and later bought the second matching one.

If the amps were bridgable i would probably still have them set up how they are now rather than wire the cabinets up for 4ohms taking each amp up to 200w from 160 as the thd would increase at 4ohms.
so im resonably happy to have each amp doing 2x80w rms..

I was contemplating getting some active sub woofers but my amps dont have a pre amp out. Right now i am actually happy with the over all sound output of the system. so i dont know if i will buy some subs.

i was just really wondering if there awas anything i was doing which would be frowned upon.

Nothing will be frowned upon by us. It's your system and you can enjoy it as you wish.

All that matters is it sounds good to you, you could always try a Behringer 2496. I never tried having multiple speakers running the same signals, I guess it works in your car, you have dash speakers, rears, and door speakers and only stereo output? interesting to say the least.

But anyway if you are happy, then just tell him you listened to his system and you think yours sounds better, then he will e on here asking what he can do to change his system...

think of it as 2 big floor standing speakers with 6 drivers in them instead of 4 speakers with 3 drivers
its just that the drivers go (from bottom to top) Bass mid tweeter bass mid tweeter.

Thats because i stack them on top of each other so its still only 2.0 sound, its just more air gets moved.
