Any motorcycle racing fans out there?

I dont really watch it but my best friend is owner of Holeshot magazine so I get free tickets to all the events around here.

I'm a AMA SUPERBIKE fan. I love going to Daytona in Febuary-March for the Daytona 200 by Honda. I'm a #17 Miguel Duhamel fan.

I build immensely detailed models of racing motorcycles. This is more because I enjoy the kits than because I am into racing per se. The fun for me is in building them, and I don't care much what happens to them after they are finished. If you want, I can send you the next one I build (for the price of shipping.)

AMA Superbike is going to be interesting next year since DMG bought them up. Mladin has been very vocal about it. I think the revised series is going to tank, but the new series that was created in response will like do well. On one hand, it is kinda boring to watch Spies and Mladin run the course every race, but there's no reason the manufacturers shouldn't be able to catch up.

MotoGP in Indy was a bit of disappointment due to the weather, thought it's always nice to see one of those races in HD.

No I haven't. I was supposed to go to Indy for MotoGP but I couldn't get the schedule worked out. I ended up giving my tickets away to a buddy of mine. He ended up bumping into Rossi at dinner and chatted with him for about 20 minutes.

Depending on how the new series plays out, I'd like to head to Daytona for the opener next year.

The wife and I go to the superbike races at Sears Point (Infenion) every year and always have a great time. I had a chance to go to the GP at Laguna Seca this year, but it was last minute and I had a conflict.

I'm with Mazer, I root for Duhamel.

I ride a 98 Honda VFR800.

Yeah, it was WET Sunday. Great race, though.

I was wanting Kentucky Boy to WIN!!!! But... he was going against the Doctor after all.... oh well.

Should'a got him on a dirt bike!

I need to get some pictures... I've had a fun time trying to find my rechargables....

2001 Buell Blast for the daily grind... 75 MPG is hard to argue with.

Some older FZR 400 for track day.... I think it's 88... I'd have to look at the VIN again. It's just being put back together. Also working on a FZR 400 that will have a 600 motor crammed in it. It'll be sick. :D
 
I follow Moto GP, but more in a passive role. I have never really gotten into bikes. I mostly follow the series for some of the tech.

As my avatar indicates, I follow F1 quite heavily.
 
I'm driving distance from Indy, but I couldn't get out of work to go. They need to do a MotoGP at Road America. That'd be a great race. I haven't been following the races this past season, no cable, as I rarely watch tv. Unfortunately, motocycle road racing is not very popular in the mainstream US. I've been to several events where there are few fans in attendance who aren't personally involved in racing on some level. We need better coverage, the AMA events can seem boring to watch on tv, especially compared to how MGP & WSBK show their events.

I would definitely go if Moto GP were at Road America. It is a 40 min drive for me. :D

unfortunately it's not likely to happen. MotoGP has looked at Road America several times over the years and RA has been unable to make the necessary changes required for rider safety. IIRC the kink at the back of the track is the biggest problem. I heard that had something to do with them adding the chicane to a few years back, an attempt to slow racers down through there. It wasn't enough, still no real runoff, just a few feet of dirt, a fence, then a drop.

Well US networks failed miserably at promoting both Laguna and Indy. The coverage was so bad that anyone who even tried to watch and be interested was bored out of their mind. If they would dedicate an hour pre-show to introduce the riders, the technology and really get people into it, it would be differnent. NASCAR is as much about the personalities as it is the racing. Motorcycle racing has all the same qualities... except it's 10 times more exciting.

I do. I love motorcycles. Been riding for the last 20 years. One of the championships I follow a lot is World Superbike, which is based on bikes you can bike off the showroom at your dealer (obviously you need some expensive aftermarket parts to make it competitive).I went to Miller Motorsport in UT to watch the series and I had a lot of fun, took a lot of pictures, visited the pits and met some of the riders (Haga, Biaggi, Xaus, Checa, Corser among others). I like it more than MotoGP. I do have 3 bikes, a 2002 Honda CBR954RR (needs a new engine), a 2003 Honda CBR954RR and a 2003 Yamaha FZ1.
