I'm a chemist by trade. Most people don't realize this, but the food industry is the largest employer of chemists in the world! Think about that, most of the world's food supply has a heavy-hand from chemists in the lab. Artificial flavors, preservatives, processing, all need chemists to control the process and keep the food safe.

I have read about artificial flavorings so concentrated that a few drops would flavor an entire swimming pool!

The closest I come to that industry would be a little home brewing

Bless those Terro bait traps; the only thing that actually works against an ant infestation. We too built a house in 2011 and tried everything. Forget poisons, vinegar, organic methods, coffee, mint, blah, blah, blah; forget the exterminator too. Bought tons of indoor Terro bait traps and put them everywhere. I also used the outdoor bait by Terro (not the standard poison granules that kill on contact as those aren't great either) and put small piles around the perimeter of the house every 10 feet or so for extra control. Every spring, I put some indoor bait traps out and start sprinkling the outdoor stuff around; problem solved.

WE ARE NOW ANT FREE, I haven't seen an ant in a few days, they are all dead, just to test the theory I left them a treat on the counter {by accident but it proved to be a good test} before it would have had a few ants on and around it after 20 minutes, it was there for hours and not an ant in site.... Thank you terro...
