there are a ton of things i want to get. unfortunately, all of them have "money in the pocket" as a prerequisite.

I'm not going to rush into buying anything but I would like to see how the Oppo BD player turns out. I'm also interested in the Emotiva subwoofer system but that's already a year overdue and my sub situation is good enough for now.

I'm also considering getting a Mac Mini as a HTPC. Since it's been rumored that a new model is coming out, I'm going to wait for that and either buy the new one if it's a lot better or look for discounts on the current one.

LOL......yeah Mike I would say this is a common theme for us audioholics. My Mom used to always say "money doesn't grow on trees".....well neither does audio/video gear!!!!!:eek: But, that still does not stop me from wishing. ;);) Thanks for posting Mike.

Lots of good ideas Jim. I also respect how you are being cautious and not doing anything rash. My guess is, you are a laid-back kind of guy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Just wished I had more patience myself. Thanks for posting.

Phil,

I totally understand the desire to get something NOW. I put in a new furnace that I'm still paying for so I have to pace myself for the time being. I have a BD player and a sub. I'd like an HTPC but I've lived without one for this long, I can wait a little longer.

Besides, I've got some new speakers on the way as soon as I can find time to put them together. I've got everything I need but the veneer for 5 new speakers and the wood is mostly cut. Once those are done, my first priority is amplification.

That's part of the reason why I can wait. I've got something to occupy myself until new products become available.

Jim, I really like how you think things through before pulling the trigger. Nothing wrong with that at all in my book. I bet you have a working budget at stay within that. I try to, but admit it is a struggle. Kudos to you for being so responsible. ;);)

Folks, one thing I am really looking forward to seeing are the Flag-Ship LTS speakers from SVS. I am sure they will be splendid, but I am very anxious to see at what price range they will come in at. Things like this I find very exciting!!!!! :D:D

Agreed! Any word on those? I haven't seen anything.
No sorry, other than it reads "Coming Late 2009". My guess is that SVS is making sure that they do this the right way. As such, I am even more sure that the cost/performance ratio will result in a great bang for your buck so to speak. Lets just say, That I am very curious as to what the LTS will bring to the table. Chances are very good I will not be able to afford them anyways. But it never hurts to dream I always say. ;);) I did, however, buy a Powerball ticket today. Who knows, I might hit one. :p:p If I ever do, better look out because I would then become SVS's #1 customer-well second to Mike_c anyways.:eek:

Thanks, Phil. I hadn't noticed that they finally updated the date on those. Last time that I looked, it still said that they were coming in 2008. Too bad they have slipped to late this year (if that).

Yeah, I agree 100%. Who knows, they get it done sooner rather than later. Either way, I am excited about it. The waiting doesn't help, but it will be worth it in the end. Guess I had better get to winning the Powerball eh.........Lmao!!!!!:eek:

Jost, I can easily see you have the sickness.:eek: That being an "audiophile". It seems to never end as I can relate 100%. Of course, there are many of us around that go through the same exact thing. At times, I can't even sleep because of all the things I want to do. Yes, I am a bit anxious most of time.:eek: Thanks for posting as it is always good to hear from you my friend. Hope all is well.

The Pioneer VSX-819H is due out in April. Looks good to me and my budget.

It sure does look to offer a lot for your money. It would even work great as a pre/pro imho for those that prefer separates. Great find. Thanks for posting.

I say that all of you who I remember were waiting for the oppo blu-ray player to jump in the wagon are really missing something. It's been 2 years or so now and prices went down a while ago.

I've been enjoying for a good year HD movies and sound on a format that's still alive and kicking while prices went down maybe like 100$ tops for players...

That is if you really give a damn about HD!! lol but I can't imagine some people nitpicky who think there are sound differences between speaker cables and not even getting HD sound (vs DVD)!!!

Not a piece of audio gear, but certainly important to my HT in general. I'm waiting for the bugs with the DTV Pal DVR to be worked out, and then I'm going to jump on that like white on rice. :D

These are the things that I'd like to see:

1) 60+ inch LCD's for less than the cost of a good used car

2) Uncomprised home theater computing. (I don't want to buy 20 different programs and add-ons to make stuff work.)

3) Better remotes. There's a couple out there, but they're either too expensive or just plain ugly. An RF version of the Harmony One would be a good start.

4) Being able to send remote commnands from an HTPC

5) Better looking equipment. Speakers - something other than a rectangle would be nice. (B&W 800's have it right - now lets make some that don't cost more than a new car) Components - they either try to look really modern and produce ugly stuff because they don't quite get it, or they keep it so traditonal, you can't tell if it's new or 20 years old. How come they can't make slick high end looking boxes. HTPC Cases - there may be 4 that I would actually own. They're typically pathetic looking computer cases that they've add a knob or two to.
