Analog Outs for SACD

Is there a difference in the wire used to make analog audio cable from the wire used to make component video cables?
I ask, because an analog set of 5.1 cables is $100 at Blue Jeans Cable, while two sets of Belken's component video cables at the local discount store are $30. Why not spend $30 instead of $100?

goodman,
I'm not sure if there is any real "difference" other than maybe materials used to build the cable, maybe some shielding, but the $30 cables do work. I am using component video cables right now for the same thing on my sacd player. I haven't tried out anything more expensive. I am sure that there could be a bit of a difference in sound if you do indeed get better cables, but unless your source is really good to begin with, I am not sure better cables are going to do much for you.

They'll both work just fine. One thing, though, the Blue Jeans cables have very high quality connectors and can be ordered in any length you choose, while the Beldens may be flimsier. If you just plug them in and forget 'em, you'll never know the difference.

Now, for $500, I'll sell you a quart of Genuine Snake Oil, which will make your cables sound sweeter, more detailed, airier, and more chocklatey than them plain ones.;)

Okay. As long as you buy a pair of my Grade A Egg Crate Cable Elevators. These will fill your room with golden, liquid sound.

Thanks for the heads-up on monoprice.com. They have low prices and great selection, including 1.5 and 3.0 foot component video cables.
