So after sitting for about 6 months my Altec Lansing ADA880, stopped working.
I am currently trying to fix it, I have it all hooked ok but when i press the
MAIN SPEAKER "ON button I get no light just nothing, like it's not plugged in.
What I have done; Took out the Main circuit board, fuse is good, I get 120 vac
inside the box at fuse, No componets heat up nothing. Caps all look good no
leaking no bulging.
I am in great need of some help. Please.

I can't find a circuit for this unit. What you need to do is now check the voltages coming out of the power transformer. If they are OK, then check the voltages out of the rectifier, and at the smoothing caps.

Unfortunately from what you say, my best guess is that the power transformer is blown. If that is the case then this unit is done and is a recycle job.

My big concern is that you are not experienced and may be putting yourself at risk. It is best to connect the units under test to a Variac so you can study the situation at lower voltage.

But carefully check the voltages coming out of the power transformer and if you can nada, game over.

Checked the power transformer and yes there is nothing on the out put going to the motherboard.
Earlier I removed it and I could not see anything that might look like it would be bad.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
I really loved that unit, I don't know where I'll find a theater system similar.

I can find no information on that unit. No circuit or service manual, not even a picture. Did you really post the right model number? I have a feeling you did not, as it does not turn up anywhere.

I think the OP meant the Altec Lansing ADA880. The "Voice of the Computer" company has nothing to do with the defunct Altec corporation. They only bought the name after closure.

He correctly used ADA880 in his post, just the thread title is wrong. I couldn't find a service manual in the usual places.

Here's a video from someone on reddit:

and a listing on UK Ebay:

and one for sale in the U.S. on Reverb:

That unit is not worth the time of day. It is way obsolete and out of date apart from everything else.

You are right, I DID wright down in the thread the wrong Model (my bad) it IS the ADA880.
And yes the unit is way past obsolete but I loved the big base sound I could get out of it.
It lasted for over 20 years.
I am hoping to find a newer system (I am not stuck on any name brand just limited on price)
We can end this thread now I am very happy for all the quick replies.
Have a good one.
