One of the wonderful things about voting in the USA is that it is private. So, you might not get a lot of responses in a public poll. Just a thought. Then again, maybe you'll get a whole bunch. I guess that people do participate in exit polls, after all.

Voting in the real election never was anonymous in Washington state. Back when we voted with the little punch card ballots it went like this...

You would have to show some form of ID (drivers license or Voter registration card)
Sign the big printout of the voter rolls
They would compare your signatures
Give you the proper ballot for your district
Then they would write the number off the ballot onto the voter roll next to your signature.

Now I to me this means at a later date someone could come along and say Jane Doe voted on ballot #123456789 and that ballot had these holes punched corresponding to these candidates...

Now that our county has gone to all absentee ballots I think it would be even easier to track who voted for whom as you have to sign the envelop and they probably know what ballot number they sent you.

I miss "pulling the lever" in the old mechanical ballot booths.
