Advice on new home theater

What does RBH bring to you that the others don't? I haven't had the chance to listen to them, so I have no comparison point.

I will say, though that 5 full range towers, if you can do that, would be a monster bed layer. Or at least two full range at your mains, and the slightly lesser siblings at center and Surround... (just an example to illustrate (not full range, though): Monitor Audio Silver 500 as L/R, MA Silver 300 as Center/Surrounds)... then you have a little more leeway for sub placement. But if you can get full range at your mains, you can go Geddes style with your subs, and pick the 3 best places around your room to supplement the mains.

At 3000'3, i think sealed subs could be a consideration. I know its a bit of a heresy, but you will have cabin gain in that room, and I think it can work in your favor. Just a suggestion to experiment, not an earnest recommendation.

Regardless, you've got a lot to work with! Completely blank slate.

Look forward to hearing more about this! :)
Thanks as for why go with RBH I've always been fascinated by them would love to own them

Although I won't be going with there full range towers. You can buy those top monitors that come with them for less. The SV 831R's I believe they are I figure those will integrate well with my subs I have. then some of there reference bookshelves and in ceilings

However I'm a little nervous on the return policy I believe you have to pay return shipping and that isn't cheap plus they have to be in New condition that parts fair but if they are not you only get a partial refund

Well we'll just have to see

Doing 7 towers is going to be rough, man, plus four subs!!! That's a lot of real estate.
To be honest... I like the sliding door covering the bar idea. I think you should consider a retractable transparent screen: no need to f with building a false wall. Great idea creating an equipment room in a closet: just be certain to ventilate, and make certain you can access it all. :) Keeping the fan? or losing it for the projector??? Getting the projector off the floor would be smart I think... again space issues.
Thinking about Surrounds... have you thought about going 5.x.4... or are you going to keep with 7 on the bed layer? Admittedly, I've entertained going with a Rear Center instead of stereo Rears: Small room, add in Atmos, I suspect that change is workable with the right gear.
Pretty sure you can only add pairs in an Atmos installation. Sorry brother, no single rear center...

Curious why you’d do that.

@danzilla!!! Looks like a nice clean slate bro. Gonna be tough though. Width and length almost the same with the height almost exactly half. Since you’re doing two rows you might have a chance since the front and back rows will be on either side of center. Be prepared to experiment.
I think a 5ch bed layer might be best, but maybe consider 4 surrounds as a kind of array so both rows have a good experience.
I may doodle on your pics later...lol

???? Maybe I mistyped something but yeah I plan on adding pairs I'm leaning more towards a 5.2.4 setup maaaybbbee 7.2.4 but like you guys have all pointed out rear surrounds might be cramped in that setup

Plus I have the challenge of the usable area being 18 × 18 like you said but the walls aren't straight so putting in in walls for the back surrounds would be a real pain in the ass.

Lol. That was for ryan...

I do think rear surrounds might be crampy. Two pairs of (side) surrounds, one for each row might be great. Unless of course the family that is insisting on two rows will only be watching occasionally.

They will only be watching occasionally we all have to keep others happy ya know?

What drives me crazy is Id rather do one row of seats. If I did that I could do anything I wanted in that theater room.

Compromises compromises lol

If it were me, I would design it for myself, and let everybody else have scraps(unless it’s demo time). Im kind of a dikk like that lol.
I have a “kind of” back row. In the back corners of the room, there are two chairs that can be pulled in behind the couch. The chairs go back when movie time is over! Also, if it’s kids your accommodating, they LOVE bean bags. Easy extra row on the floor. Done!

Ehhhhhh my Dad used to have a theater room and since we went half and half on the house I gotta giv him 2 rows. They needed a place to stay in the winters getting too rough in the mountains for them. So I didn't mind the deal I'm going to miss the sh@$! Ought of my man cave home I have now tho. And my theater slash living room I built in here. My parents are worth it tho.

Plus we do have a lot of family that visits so dammmn I'm going to have to make this compromise:mad:

Ha, you caught that! ;)
So the Marantz offers it as an option for surrounds.
DTS 5.1 audio... sometimes is mixed for a back center, apparently, not the front. (For real! I've got discs that won't activate the front center!)
And I've seen reference to it in other surround mentions.

I do think it is an older format, however. ;)

I think you could pimp the atmos with 5.x.6, man. If you want it, why not: There are plenty of machines out there that can support the way of large home cinemas. Regardless, 5-channel would maintain floor space for you and guests... er, I mean your subwoofers! Clearly one will be near-field as an end table between chairs!

That's a very very good idea. I like that a lot.
I don't think I'll be crazy space challenged on the subs there are a lot of good spots to place them in there I don't like the 18 × 18 dimensions although the walls aren't squared the dimensions are kinda feel I'd want 4 subs in there to balance it out

I'm really interested in this idea how would this work exactly? You can't make the second row be the rears how would you configure it and how would you assign channels to it on your prepro or avr?
