Seriously, I have no life.
Saw this yesterday:D

Very impressive sound at a nice, large theater. Most of the picture is at night. The movie takes off right at the ending of the last one, AVP.
It has an interesting ending and am waiting for the next installment:D

I wonder if any movie theater is equipped with DTS-HD MA or TrueHD?:D

Did you like it more or less than AVP?
I didn't see AVP in its totality as I missed the first 1/3 on TV so I will have to watch it on the big screen:D
But, the AVPR had a conclusion to the first one and a lead into the next one.
I think AVP was a bit better though.
Interesting that the Company is shaping up to be a major part or involved in all this.

So, Mtry...reading the thread title I was certain you were getting into Audio Video Public Relations.

You and I are even up now with stirring up thread interest via shrouded titles. ;)

But yeah, even if I had two broken legs I would crawl out to see this flick. Gimme sci-fi...gimme action...gimme great audio FX!! (Who cares about plotlines?)

By Company do you mean Weiland Industries which later becomes Weiland Yutani who sent the Nostromo and put the colony on LV-426? (I'm an Alien nerd I know :))

Yes, I just read up on it on wikipedia. Most interesting how they do this timelines, etc.
Alien movies takes place way in the future. Then the predator and AVP/r starts in modern times. I enjoy it when they seem to be consistent and lead one into the other but it is taking them, the makers so long to get it done, 20+, like Lucas and the 6 Star Wars that were to be 9 episodes and 20+ years for that 6  Some of us are running out of time. :D

Almost the same. Not sure I'd do it with 2 leggs broken, maybe one. I'd wait for the DVD, maybe.;)

I just got back from seeing it at the theatre. I found it to be better than AVP 1. What really impressed me was the sound as I got to hear it in a DTS theatre. The sound really immersed you into the movie and bass was hitting pretty hard. Can't wait for it to hit on BD with DTS-HD/MA.

Checked it out last night. All the guys saw AVP-R while the wimmin saw P.S. I Love You.
Talk about dodging a bullet!!
Anyway, the sound was excellent, strong surround usage and good bass.
If you wait until it comes out on DVD your display better have brilliant black levels for the multitude of dark/night scenes.
For a while I thought it was going to be a bit cheesy like Transformers, with the guy/cute girl thing (not that I mind the cute girl), but things were bought back to a gritty level soon after.
Some better lighting would improve a couple of scenes but over all a great movie that deserves to sit along side the Alien/Predator/AVP movies.

One more thing, I hope they will soon explain the phenomenal growth rate of the alien. It seems absurd.

Yeah I found the time it took for an alien to pop out after the humans were cocooned to be really short when compared to the alien movies. Time for them to become full size was about right though. Maybe the fact that the facehuggers that were on LV426 were there for a super long time had something to do with it. I really hope they make a third one though.

I don't know about that. The time from the alien coming out of the predators chest to the time it was wrecking havoc on the ship, was short enough for the ship to crash back on earth. Yet the alien had grown from new born to near full size in the same time.

Any thoughts Gus?

Maybe because it was a predator alien? Don't know really although I must say that the predator alien was a badass. If he was in the regular Alien movies Ripley would've gotten her butt kicked. Also remember when he started sucking some eggs down the pregnant woman in the hospital and she had a ton of little aliens. Maybe since he was part predator he had an accelerated DNA or something.

I found that I liked it a bit better than AvP. I wish someone like James Cameron would take over this series, it could be so much better than it is.

I thought it was a complete pile of crap. I was totally bored through the whole movie. I didn't really like the first AVP, but that one was better. You hardly even got a good look at the Pred-Alien, because every scene it was in was so dark.

It wasn't scary. It wasn't exciting. It wasn't supsenseful. It wasn't anything. The best part of the whole movie was the hot blonde stripping down to her underwear. :D

Why?

Do you have a BD player and Receiver equipped with DTS-MA?:)

I hope Fox wises up like LionsGate (WAR BD) and start putting all their movies in 7.1 PCM so that all of us can actually enjoy it NOW!:D
