Alright, I just saw AVP-2 yesterday.
One word: SUCKED!

I loved Aliens 1-4, Predator 1, and AVP 1. But AVP 2 was bad. You can't see any cool action sequences between Predator & Alien.

Bad impression. Lame.

I've been a fan of the Predator and Alien franchises, but this was a new low. The only thing that could have made it worse is if Gary Busey and Anna Nicole Smith had been in it. I have to wonder about the folks that made this abomination.

For Christmas my son got me the Alien and Predator collectors gift set, has all the movies and an Alien and Predator figures that light up. It also had a $10 coupon for the movie. So off to the movies my and my girlfriend go, five minutes after it started I was sound asleep, was doing the old head nod thing. I thought it was just seconds going by but as the credits came up realized it was more like half an hour increments. I really wanted to see this movie too.

I need to see it again...

...after it comes out on disc. I was somewhere in between liking and disliking it. I liked the action but how far it strayed from the established formula for the series irritated me alot. Also, it seemed to me the director was trying to reshoot the predator scenes from the first predator movie, they were too familiar. That egg injecting crossbreed was a bit much. There was just too much inconsistency in the movie.

I liked the first AVP, it was stupid and hella cheesy, but I was very entertained. The sequel was somewhat entertaining but I really got distracted by the bad job I feel the Director did.

I haven't read this whole thread, so my apologies in advance, but it sounds like the discussion is Alien vs Predator. I had very low expectations because I think the Alien movies are boring. I put off watching Alien vs Predator for a long time but when I finally did watch it, I thought it was pretty good. At least the history of it all was explained pretty well. As someone with low expectations from the beginning, I was pleasantly suprised that it was actually prety decent.

It sounds like you may have watched the first combined series movie, Alien vs Predator(AVP), where they fight in Antarctica. I liked that one a lot. Cheesy, but well done and entertaining.

In case you didn't see the sequel to that, it's Alien vs Predator Requiem (AVPR). Starts right where AVP left off and is more of a them offing humans-fest. It's a sequel and really not as smart (can I use that word when talking about AVP/AVPR?) as the first one, but much more vicous in every way in nature.

AVPR comes out on dvd/bd mid-April. I actually pre-ordered them both for $27.95 on BD (very brief special for both movies a few weeks back).

I have AVP, it wasn't bad, actually it was more enjoyable than some of the latter Alien movies. I haven't seen AVPR and you guys are doing a good job of "scaring" me out of it! Since I've stopped buying DVDs, my other resort is Netflix.
