I'm prepping for a house move and needless to say the last thing to be dismantled will be my HT. I made a concession and removed the top half off my audio cabinet which also held my center channel. Well I went into my reciever and unselected my center channel since it wasn't there. This weekend I watched Underworld 1 & 2 and thedialogue was clear, precise, intellegeable even when things got really busy.

Yep, PSB designs well. After all, they have the right tools for testing, NRC.
Tom Nousaine had a PSB, measured at NRC. Boy, the FR was flat.

The center channel is a dumb idea to begin with. Any decent pair of front speakers ought to be able to image the stuff that comes from a center. It is a just a way to charge more money for unneeded stuff. Sadly, it is almost necessary to get one for home theater since so much material now comes from the center in five channel mixes. The two fronts should be carrying that material and the center should be superfluous.

Well, sorry you feel that the center is a dumb idea.
While some speakers can image a phantom center unfortunately it is only precisely at one point in space. It ain't fun watching movies by yourself, or listening to a good concert or anything.
In reality, Bell Labs in the 1930s demonstrated a real need for the center channel. They won.;):D
