Most musicians I know (and I'll bet a paycheck I know more musicians than most people do) have compromised hearing anyway.
Most Audio geeks (old) I know (and I'll bet a retirement check I know a lot of geeks) have compromised hearing anyway ...........

Blues is the perfect genres where early recordings sound were of very poor quality. Still, its my favourite genre of music and I play old and new despite the poor recording quality of the older recordings. Kinda brings one back to that era. ;)
I suppose than you are very aware of Chad Kassem and his efforts with Blue Heaven Studio in Salina, Ks

A well-balanced approach is the key to everything in life. ;)

Sounds like a fortune cookie.

But it is true. :D

It's great to understand all the measurements, all the numbers, all the graphs and all the theories. They can help us get closer to achieving the sound we want.

But.......here we go again :D .......AT THE END OF THE DAY..... Whether it is about choosing certain components (speakers, AVR, PJ, etc.) or choosing certain setups/settings (Auto EQ vs Manual EQ vs no EQ), we should go with what sounds/looks best SUBJECTIVELY to us. :D
That's the way I look at this and apply to this day. Sure measurements help but in the end, its your ears. your room, your music and the associated equipment that provides the enjoyment you seek.
