Pfft. A stack of Yamaha Professional amplifiers is all you need. Tons of power, extreme high build quality, and perfectly transparent.
A stack of P2500S or P3500S amplifiers would be my recommendation. You get so much more for your money as compared to buying consumer amplifiers. Pro audio is HIGHLY competitive - and the better modern pro amps are just as high in fidelity as home hi-fi amps. I use the Yamahas in my main system now, and this is coming from someone that used to use McIntosh amplification exclusively in my main system.
Of course, if you are looking specifically for 'pretty looking' amps, then the Yamahas don't cut it. They have an industrial/commercial appearance.
$1600 gets you 8 channels, 250 watts into 8 Ohms, 310 into 4 Ohms. 4 x P2500S($400 each)
$2000 gets you 8 channels, 350 watts into 8 ohms, 450 into 4 Ohms. 4 x P3500S($500 each)
If you wanted to spend the full $3000, you could get 4 x P7000S. This is a true monster.
$2800 gets you 8 channels, 700 watts into 8 Ohms, 950 into 4 Ohms. 4 x P7000S($700 each)
