55 inch TV recommendation

Hello all,

Looking for a 55 inch TV recommdation for bedroom. Not a bright room. Cutains, no direct sunlight. Viewing distance anywhere between 4 1/2 to 7 feet. Don't really want to go higer then $700. Already have a roku, so streaming options not important. Probably will use a soundbar. No gaming. Movies, Netflix, etc, some sports.

Wow prices went down alot?? My old Sony 55” non hdr was like $1100 in 2015. Tough choice between those and lg.

If you are patient, you can probably get an 55" LG OLED in your budget, I've seen the B series as low as $699 and I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing one. Hoping with Black Friday around the corner I can snag one. I have the 65" C4 in my living room and an older 48" Vizio 4K in my bedroom and the difference is pretty dramatic.

I would go for their 2025 model QM7K. I have their 2024 model QM751G mini Led model. with outstanding picture quality.

We had a 65 in this room briefly, it overwhelmed the room, all we need is a 55, but thanks.

TCL seems to be doing a lot right, and their upper tier options are holding their own against Sony in most categories rtings scores. I think processing capabilities is almost always going to go to Sony, but after that… many companies are knocking on the door.

Not really, TCL, and other mid-level sets, are horrible at upscaling below 1080, lack fine detail, Poor PQ tracking, buggy etc. But than not everyone can spend more on the top 3 makers for tv's. I picked up a TCL 55" QM7 for 499.00 from BB. Really good for DV and 1080p. But not so good at live sports or anything below 1080. Really good at DV HDR. I wouldn't use it in my HT setup though. But for the coin spent, yeah 2nd tv for bedroom use, money well spent.

I’ve never had a TCL I have two Sonys . I had to return a Samsung because it lacked 3:2 pull-down so movies had artifacts and lagg really terrible for a 1k tv. I wanted that brand .. but couldn’t up my budget. I’m still mad I returned my lcd from Samsung to a Sony it was a downgrade I should have not done it. But those are pretty obsolete now . I wish I could afford a pricer tv … but unless your highly skilled jobs pay nothing here. I should had gotten a curved Samsung it was so weird . Now seems there gone .

As with Audio, HT or just two channel for music use, Video is very subjective. Back in the day my youngest Son had a curved Samsung 65". I personally liked it a lot, I'd sit in the sweet spot to watch live sports.

Speaking for myself it enhanced my peripheral vision, for a more fluid view when scenes were panning. But yeah Video is just as subjective as audio. Everyone doesn't hear the same, just as everyone does have the same eyesight.

Some may not be as sensitive to say, seeing the lost of fine detail on a tv with inferior processing. There's No perfect panels, but yet the top 3 tv maker's would like to make believers of us consumers. The flagship tv's sure do cost the price of a new car or truck though.

I went with the Samsung QLED 55. I got it dialed in pretty good as far as the settings. Good picture. I know OLED is better, but I didn't want to spend the $ for one. LG soundbar set up. All good. It's mostly for the lady of the house anyway, while I'm watching football downstairs. Now she doesn't feel like she relagated to the "dungoen" when the game is on.

While I was at BB. I was checking out the new Samsung and Sony 77 OLEDs. Magnificent picture on those things. Maybe one of those will be the next main room TV. They cost some serious coin though.

My latest TCL is their [2024] 55" QM751G, mini LED, purchased 1 year ago. This replacement is for and older 55" TCL QLED, that I gave to my sister-in-law.

I also have 2 older 50" TCL's QLED. The [2024 model] QM751G, PQ, is outstanding. End of story.

My experience is different. I have their [2024] 55QM751G and PQ is great for movies, sports, regular TV, and black/white movies. You must not have the right adjustments. I am in MOVIE mode. Software update is v113, OTA. They say the Beta software V231 is better, which you have to do yourself.

I even read that their new QM7K model, is not as strong as the QM7 [2024], in some areas. But, I would buy. TCL has become a real and better PQ, mini LED, than some named competition. OLED has burn in issue.

Or I could use a 17 year old lcd tv. But it’s 40”…

Do TCL TVs last a long time? Some of these high end models cost same as a mid Sony/ Samsung. Lg looks interesting too but I never had one. Id definitely like something brighter one when my current tv or both my TVs fail. But it seems oled are getting cheaper I’m still too afraid of burn in.

yeah I’ll probably end up getting a 55 again , seems no one makes 60 anymore I’d go in between if possible. Easier to carry.
