I don't know what 4:4:4 chroma pixel formatting is or how important it is to you. I just use an hdmi cable from my vidcard to my tv (in your case, your receiver) and it works fine.

It is important to me and one of the reasons I've got the TV along with its IPS panel. All movies are scaled down to 4:2:2 i believe, but for monitor use it's excellent.

Is there an audio cable that I can plug from my computer to the Receiver that will produce the same sound as audio over HDMI would?

No, hdmi or multichannel analog out is the only way to get dolby true hd or dts hd master audio. If you are fine with lossy audio like dolby digital or regular dts you can just use an optical cable or whatever.

Of course, if you aren't watching anything with dts hd ma or dolby true hd on your htpc, then it's a moot point and you can just stick with an optical cable.

Will it be a problem having the rear p153's sitting on a ledge (back close to wall) and having it roughly 2 feet lower than ear level when laying down to watch movies as opposed to sitting up?

2 feet below ear level might be a problem, but you can just give it a shot and see how it sounds. Them being close to a wall shouldn't matter since they are front ported (at least i think they are, i forget).

Sorry if i mentioned incorrectly, but the speakers would be about 2 feet ABOVE ear listening level. The speakers are front ported. Also I have the opportunity to position them at my sides facing at me at a lower height. Is that better positioning?

Can I power the p163's with a Pioneer SX-2700 @65w per channel til' my receiver comes in tomorrow? Or does that risk harm to the speakers.

I personally prefer having the surround speakers slightly above rather than at ear level, but you need to angle them down towards the listening area. You can try both and see what works for you.

As for the receiver, you can definitely use the Pioneer for now. Just don't turn the volume very loud or you risk clipping as the amp runs out of juice, and that can damage the speakers.

I do not believe it will be possible to angle the speakers down due to it being placed on a shelf that runs along the back wall and the p153 just sitting on them at an oblique angle. I also could place them on coffee tables horizontal and at equal height to where I will be sitting on the back couch.

I also have some questions as far as subwoofer placement. From what I've read in most circumstances they are best placed in the corner 8'' to 10'' inches from the wall on all sides. Now please refer to the diagram below for the following issues I'm concerned with.

In the front left of the diagram there is an attached corner cabinet thing that sits about 18'' high and is a one foot square in area that is in the corner (grey). Also a couch that would be directly in front of the sub (grey), The sub (labeled green) would most conveniently be placed in that corner. Basically surrounded by a computer desk, that corner cabinet, and the couch. All with 8'' to 10'' of course. Does this pose a problem?

I've read of the subwoofer crawl, but in my case the room sort of dictates placement. I could also try the back left corner and back right all of which are least from diagonally across the room. What are your guys' thoughts on this?

So all my speakers arrived and I realized that I received 3 p163's and 1 p153. Instead of 2x p163 and 2x 153. Can I use p163 and p153 for my rears. I really don't want to have to wait or pay to ship back the 163 and get a 153.

Is spending another 160 worthwhile to go 7.1 to match all the speakers?

You don't have to pay a dime!

Amazon will pay for the return shipping.

You return the P153 in the same boxes they sent you.

Open the P153's box to prove that you have looked at them and all that and you are not happy with it.

Then put the P153 back in it's original boxes. Then print the UPS label (paid by Amazon) and clear tape the UPS label on the box. Then take it to UPS and get a receipt just in case.
