Ok guys, I am about to add the 3rd zone and I am uncertain if this can be done without an ext.amp. Reading the manual has not provided me with much help on this topic. Can anyone answer this?

Oh and this frees up the Yamaha RX659. If anyone is looking for a basic, powerhouse AVR, I bet I will sale it on the cheap or maybe trade it for a 2 ch. amp.

id just add a pro amp and be done with it, for 150-200 your set, without comprimise.

When I was looking at this earlier this morning you can use the surround backs to power either zone2 or zone3 in stereo or do mono to each zone 2 and zone 3.

I think your plan to use the surround backs to power zone 2 (bedroom) and use the amp you pm'd me about for zone 3. Don't post that link until after you buy yours. That is a steal.

Ok, cool. I will just get the amp and then we will continue to work on the rest of the set-up.

Highlander, I need you to get your work finished so you can hammer out more detail for me. Tell the wife you can't make dinner tonight as the Dawg needs ya!

Not bad for 59 bucks!

I saw that last week, I was contemplating seeing if I could get 3 of them to bridge for my fronts.

I would go for aomething a little better for mains. Maybe like one the Behringer options.

For a 3rd zone the Audiosource should be more than able.

Ok, I am all set, the amp should be here early next week and I purchased all of Highlanders Niles gear for the control. It should make for a really nice 3rd zone.

Hi, I saw your post on addin zone3 on 3808.
I have not successfully add zone2 yet. I hope you can help me in setup. Here is what I have:

- Denon 3803ci & Denon 5803
- DefTech 650 5.1 speakers
- Paradigm studio 100*2, 40*2, center, sub

I would like to use the 3808 Net/USB feature on 5803 setup. Also would like to use both the AVRs in multizone mode. But I am too-overwhelmed with the options and get confused.

Please provide some insight and thoughts. How to best use features of both. I plan to use:
- 3808 in bedroom with DefTech
- 5803 in living room with Paradigms.

Thanks
Rohit

I am confused. Are you trying to hook the two AVRs together or just using 3 AVRs for two different applications?

I am trying to connect the two avrs together. As 5803 is old but has more power, likewise 3808 has new features like Net/USB and radio. I wish to keep 3808 in bedroom and 5803 in living room. And connect 3808 as input to 5803 for Net/USB digital audio streaming. This is where I need your guidance as how best to connect these two. Options I can think of are:
- Pre-out from 3808 to 5803
- Zone2 of 3808 to 5803 ??? is this possible?
Any other method?

ALSO: how to use these individuals for multizones. I see that you have used 3808 for zone 2 and 3.

I just don't think you can use these together as the 5803 would have to have a way to bypass the pre-pro section and I dont think that is possible. If it is, someone else would need to tell you how because I don't know. The 3808 can run 3 zones so I would look into that and see if it works for you.

What are you doing in zone 1 (5.1 or 7.1)? What do you want to do in zone 2? What is zone 3 used for?

It is easy to go into the manaul set up of the 3808 and assign the internal amps for zone 2 or 3. Control can be handled by the second remote from the main room or you can add an IR system to control the other zones. I seond amp will be needed for zone 3.

There is a little bit of info in the Denon owner manuals but they are really bad. It will say things like "to set up zone 2, set up zone 2''
