I had an idea like that for a gaming system. Hook up three projecters to a computer using AMD's Eye-Finity multi monitor system and project them side by side on one very long curved screen. If you set it up right, you will get a seamless 180 degree screen. It would be great for racing games, flight sims, or whatever game supports a multi-monitor setup.

There are arcade games that already have this built in, and they have the same problem - the black gap between the screens, but it is suited to a driving game because it sort of feels like part of the windshield. At about $5 a pop though, still not exactly worth it too many times.

I saw something like this a couple years ago at a HardOCP event in Dallas. I don't remember if it was an nvidia or ati setup but they had a very wide (curved maybe?) display and were playing DIRT, a racing game. I took a brief look and didn't take part because it'd make me nauseous D:

Take one big curved screen and position the projectors right, and the display can wrap around you seamlessly. I don't know why these guys don't do that.
