A laser sight for a miter saw??!!!How do you install it? Does it just mark where blade will cut board? Sounds cool, I'm just about ready to replace my existing miter saw, I'm too embarassed to even name the brand:eek: (Black and Decker  )

The only drawback I see is the width of the beam. I guess you could calibrate it with some trial and error cuts? I like to use a razor blade for accurate measurements and cuts.

I played Santa to myself this year:D :D :D I bought myself a 50" Pioneer plasma, an Optoma HD72, a 92" screen, a stand for all the A/V toys, an OPPO 981 DVD player and a couple of DVDs;) Now to just pay for it all:eek: I also got a short flex head ratchet wrench, a set of metric gear wrenches, some gearwrech attachments, POC 2 DVD, Ice Age Meltdown, U2's greatest hits and various other standards (shirts, etc).

I bought my brother an OPPO 970 DVD player, my sister a jigsaw and other assorted tools, various others a bunch of DVDs and gift cards.

Crikes, I'm broke.

This is the most popular thread I have started in terms of take-off. I feel so proud to be here today.:D

I also got some tools, circular saw, drill, jigsaw, wrenches, and rachet set.

Gave a multifunction lexmark printer to my mom, memory for her new camera. DVDs were for the others that are harder to shop for.:)

Yeah for super accurate cuts I still use a square and fine pencil, but for the rough stuff (+/- 1/16")that laser sounds like a time saver. Clint pm'ed, he says it looks like a fat washer, sounds rather cool, I told him most pro cabinet guys I know really go for the Hitachi compound miter saw and for jig saws they're into Bosch. I'll replace my miter most likely with a DeWalt unit, though the Hitachi looks cool, just way too much money and I'm not a pro carpenter.

A Palm Z22 PDA. It's really small so it can fit in your shirt pocket.

Wow, a nice Christmas for you. My father in law got me a set of metric gear wrenches last year, and I finally broke them out yesterday. I installed a bike rack on my wifes Pilot, and boy did they come in handy. A socket was too small to get under the rack, and an open end wrench was too slow. Definitely a life saver.

He was on sale and my firstborn really wanted a brother, so when the sale went up at Babies-R-Us I couldn't resist. I mean, once you get the stinkin' plastic wrap off them and peel off all the little stupid labels they put on, they look pretty good.

Still have some waste management issues and their higher level volumes tend to introduce a bit of screech which is annoying, but with my first I foudn that this diminishes after a year or so of some hard hitting moments. ;) :D ;)

I didn't get anything... . Not that she wouldn't buy it for me...but i refused it. It is the Nokia N80 that I have been eyeing for some time. I told her to just keep her money, and get me a dvd instead:D . We are going to look for it today. I'm too nice to let her spend her money. I bought her two coats for the holiday.

Forget about DVD players. With HD DVD players already out, and Bluray disc players on the horizon, I'd save up for one of those...

Do you not live in the USA?

Both formats have been out for several months already. The PS3 is getting very solid reviews as a Blu-ray player and can be had rather easily for $500 online, while the Toshiba players or the X-Box 360 w/HD DVD add-on can be had for about the same $500. All perform exceptionally.

You can post the cool gadgets and audio/video equipment you purchased, received, or gave to someone else for this Christmas.

I didn't actually get anything like that for Christmas, but I treated myself to a bargain in Pawn Shop. I got some Athena Technologies AS-B1s for $35.:D
Received....Cordless drill, drill bits, shop vise, retractable shop light, pliers, utility knife, floor jack and stands, ladder, pj's, massaging slippers, boxers, socks, shirts, pants, shoes, language learning software, xbox games(GRAWF and Black), cd's, iPod shuffle, Sennheisers(ear buds my butt), and a 50in. plasma!

I think that's all....? and today's my b-day(12/31)!!!!woo-hoo! Have a good one....cheers!

Because I currently live far from Ohio, I typically get a bunch of OSU stuff from the family when I make my annual pilgrimage to Ohio for Christmas.

My 'fun' present for me this year was snatching up one of those new Direct-TV HD-DVRs that recently hit the market. (the new HD-DVRs are only $300!!) They're also about as difficult to land as a PS3!!!! Apparently they're on permanent backorder at this time, and if you find one on the shelves........you're a lucky person. My main gift to myself each Christmas is my golf membership renewal for the following year......LOL I gave up the private club scene a few years back, and have since purchased an annual pass at a nearby public course each Christmas.

I forgot about those PS3's.

Just last week, I saw someone with a PS3 in his shopping cart at my local Costco.
